Throttle lag

Featured Replies

My Karoq, new this August, is the 148 hp diesel 4x4. At junctions, roundabouts or similar, where there are very small gaps in traffic, my vehicle has a long throttle response delay, which is so dangerous as by the time the vehicle has moved the traffic is upon me. Is this a fault or a characteristic of the vehicle?

Welcome.

Skoda / VW will say it is a characteristic or your driving.

It is up to you to decide if a Fault of their Engine Management to get a car through testing and is dangerous.

If you think it is tell them. Tell them in writing.

That is the only way they will know and can not say, 'We have never heard of that'.  then they can start saying, 'They all do that.' or 'it is a characteristic.'

Good luck.

I usually find that in situations that you describe that it is best to have Auto Hold switched off and Sport Mode selected.

Noticed the same with mine 1.6 diesel dsg turn the stop start function off. Button  is under infotainment screen on left hand side seems to be a delay on engine starting up again if you turn it off you won’t have this problem my car is in the uk don’t know if the same applies to the karoq in other countries

I have the 2Ltr 4x4 DSG, stop start never on but never had any problems pulling away! total confidence in it.

It was registered in March.

I have a perol 1.5 and it can be dangerous at round abouts as it can have a very bad lag.. I have informed Skoda and will get the garage to do a systems check in January...

I have the same vehicle since April and have never had a problem, although I had a VAG vehicle with DSG and start/stop tech before this so was prepared for it's quirks. I echo the above comments about stop / start, if I will need to make a smart getaway, I make sure the engine is running by jiggling the steering wheel slightly or if this is likely to be a frequent occurrence, turn off the start / stop. Also ensure you are not in Eco mode, this dulls the acceleration quite a lot. Normal (D) or sport mode (S) best for town driving.

This is my 3rd dsg equipped car, all do the same, put in sports mode, also don't brake then go to accelerate straight away, that causes the lag as computer is trying to calculate gearing and throttle response accordingly.  I've driven a lot of vehicles with dsg or similar duel clutch gearboxes and its a thing they all do.
