TDi waterpump or EGR issues?

Featured Replies

Mate has a  diesel with around 55k, went into the dealer there for service and think something just wasn't right and they replaced EGR valve, waterpump (timing belt too) under warranty!

Wondering are these becoming an issue or common faults???

Heads up to anyone who has one with similar miles or age if warranty is near it's end.

What engine does he have?

Not heard of these things 'just being done' unless a fault occurs. EGR issue will cause engine light to come on and water pump slider fails causing overheating. These issues are not recalls, only actions of faults occur

I had my 190PS TDI waterpump and belt changed at around the same milage. The waterpump bushing failed causing the coolant to leak into the belt housing.

With this combination I'd say they were investigating a coolant leak

Yeah it's the 2L diesel, he'd said there was something up with it, they did the EGR valve then rang him and said they found a fault with the pump. Just a heads up for folks incase anyone's warranty is almost up and these prove to be an issue. He's put 40k on it in 9monthes with no issues until now. They are a cracking big car!
