Hi, has anyone fitted a HUD to their Fabia 1.4 aauto. I believe that they will fit to OBD2  socket. My son is learning to drive and I thought it would help if the speed is shown in front of him, your thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

I think you should point out the speedometer to him!

lots of things on ebay might be worth a try.

Personally i think the fabia speedos are easy to read you can even see them from the passenger side quite clearly

if not an app on a phone mounted on the windscreen might be an idea

Hi, fitted the HUD it took 10 minutes to fit ( plugs into diagnostic socket)  threaded through behind fuse ,and sits in  r/h corner of dash.Brilliant bit of kit, displays a 45mm high display. you cannot miss it.the only problem in the fabia is that you cannot close the ljd of the cubby under the steering wheel, so I have removed it.

How clear was it on the windscreen? I got one a couple of years ago and never used it as instruction said ai had to stick qn opaque square on the screen for it to be projected on.

I run a VI monitor with additional dials from my obd socket.

Got a extension cable from Amazon which was flat and had ribbon cable which solved the problem of the storage box not being able to close

Thank s ,I will take a look at that, but its the back of the drawer thing that is in the way, I am going to cut the back out to allow it to close or get one from a breakers ,and do the same to that one. thanks for the suggestion.

Sorry re read your post. clarity is excellent, i have set it in lower rh corner of screen ,no film as yet. very clear

OBD2 connector can be unclipped from its fascia and pushed back. Might be an issue if you ever need it for something else unless you can run an extension cable with another connector to hide somewhere more accessible.

Thanks for that , I will look into moving it

MIGHT be an old fashioned idea these days, but way back in the 60's we were taught to do a sweep- speed/mirrors/ cars around us, and guaging speed became natural. Checking the dash becomes a feature, so that if there's a light on, it gets noticed.

Thanks for the comment, and I agree to an extent with what you are saying, but in the 60`s there were no speed cameras, bus lanes ammount of traffic or drugged up loons driving about. Todays learners, if they want to drive properly have a job on their hands. They have dumbed the test down to make it easier ,no three point turn ,no reversing round a corner but  if I can help him to control the car better using technology, I will. I myself now use a mobile phone, I didn`t in the 60`s . If it help, I will take advantage, it`s as simple as that.

I was vaguely aware of these devices in plane cockpits but have realised that a quick glance at the speedo which these days is a more frequent procedure (due to speed and average speed cameras) the time it takes my eyes to refocus on dash and back to the road as I get older, 70, has increased. I have ordered one!

I am sure that you will not be disappointed, you dont have to look at it at all. I have put my sons in the lower corner of the screen.
