Shouldn't we all be driving modded Superbs?

Featured Replies

I was wondering...

How well the wider track / Passat based suspension set up works once upgraded to cope with a lot of power from the 1.8T (rather than the Octavia/Golf/Leon/A3/TT) as Superbs are creeping onto the used market now ?

I'm guessing that from a refinement and comfort point of view, it could make a great SAS model ? (Skoda Autobahn Stormer) Anyone super-modded a Superb or Passat 1.8T yet ?

(ps I still need an estate, but was wondering ...)

No 4wd. But yes, other than that, the thought did occur....

I would be interested if the Superb was released with VW's 4motion system and a W10 diesel! As if!

There are loads for sale on Skoda's UK website.

Typically

There are a few 6 month old 1.8T Comforts (good spec) listed at

For a taste of modified Passat life, I invite all to clubb5.com. I am in love with my 99 Passat 1.8T, 5sp... thanks largely to APR, Eibach, Bilstein, Ate, Mintex, ASA, and Sumitomo. I've taken down an E36 M3 and a C5 Corvette during race-driver training. Ahem. :drive:

Who told you lot my plans?

:D

And there's me thinking it was just our good friend Peter from Southend who loved Superbs!

I'd be more than happy to own a Superb as my next car, but it would need to have 4WD or RWD, and a better engine than the 1.8T. The cost of making the car look and handle the part (lowering springs, uprated brakes, bodykit and spoiler, etc...) would also be considerable. Once you've done all that, would it be cheaper to buy, say, a second hand M3 or S4, or even one od those new X-Power MG ZT thingies?

I presume the RS6 engine and running will fit into a Superb as it does with the Passat.............. :asthanos:

I think it is only fair to awaken this thread again from last month as Des appears to be on the brink of doing some pioneering work :drive1:

I'd like to meet her, Des. Sounds like she and I have quite a lot in common. redface.gif

OK If you drive an RS you don't get:-

Full leather

Sat NAv

Xenon Headlamps

Multi function Stearing wheel

Heated Seats

Electric Seats

Bigger Wheels

More Airbags

50 mpg ( diesel)

How do I know this? Because I've just bought one . PXed the RS for a 1.9tdi Elegance with Sat NAv and Full leather. Only 6 months old and impressive but in an understated way not at all like the RS but just as good

Spoken to Jabba and hope to have the Re-Map done by mid Jan so will have 180ish BHP and 300+ lb/ft torque - that should be enough for the moment.

Anyway if you love your RS but need some more creature comforts this is the way to go especially as RS seem to hold their trade in well.

morgan

Bye Bye RS i'm off to the Suberb- VIA JABBA!

A rather worrying trend seems to be developing...

Who would have thought that Des turns out to be such a style guru?

Mmmm...rear legroom...

Rich,

What ever you do don't test drive a Superb otherwise you will be  goodbye to the RS.

There should be a government health warning on these cars.

You have been warned. ;)

Des

I have to admit, that now I have to commute everyday to work I have been toying with the idea as well... 1) SWMBO would love me for it as she hates the vRS... 2) The vRS *will* get me into some serious accident as it is so easy to drive it 'mad'...

Ummm.............I know the feeling.

Des

PS This is one car you'll look stupid in driving it madly. You just want to drive it slowly so as to savour the ride.
