One that fits.

Even cheap ones will get at least a day past the warranty, no need for top of the range on a car you're unlikely to keep more than a couple more years.

Measure the physical size of the battery fitted to confirm what is offered is correct size. 027 fitted on my 06 1.9TDI Elegance but through personal experience know that some site offer alternatives that are not correct, hence I confirmed measurements. Carparts4less quote a 096 based on my reg number!

096 physically longer while width and depth are same, so will it fit?

Unlikely if you have a battery fuse box.

Is the charging system working properly? That's the first thing to check before even considering a replacement battery.

Does the battery light come on when you turn the ignition on, and go out again once the engine is started?

There's a very common fault on the mk1 Fabias, especially with diesel engines, where the alternator doesn't work correctly because of a broken wire or two. When this happens the battery light no longer comes on when it should.

Not sure i believe that logic. Had a 13 month old battery fail on me twice in a few days. Was a drivetec one from GSF car parts. Returned for a refund and bought a decent one in the end. RAC patrol who came out to me said the cheap batteries dont tend to last and to go for a decent make unless you aren't keeping the car.

Id go for bosch, varta, yuasa or exide. any of those should be reasonable.
