Big break setup ?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

i was was just wondering what the best big break setup is for a Fabia vrs 130pd.

Cheers

What's broken?

A 4 finger Kit-Kat.

Mk1 Fabia section will have people with suggestions on a Big Brake set-up.

I have all the mods sitting ready for 240bhp ish. But need a bigger break upgrade. Was just wondering has anyone have any recommendations?

assuming you mean brakes, the octavia vrs setup is common. 312mm discs with associated callipers and carriers are a direct fit on the front. can do the rears if you need which are 256mm vented

sorry guys meant big brakes

I have a pair of (used) carriers for the front that have sat in a box since I never got around to it on my octy.

Common is the 312mm set up. Personally wouldn't bother with the upgraded rears.

Another option is second hand brembos from the Leon cupra R MK1 or the APs from the Ibiza cupra R.

Or spend big money for k sport/tarox etc

I agree with Stevebeano; under hard braking the rears are doing very little more than stopping the back bumper dragging on the ground.

The back end lifts during braking, unless you're reversing.

Exactly; the back end lifts because there is less to no weight on it due to dynamic weight transfer, so there is nothing to keep the rear wheels rotating...

why would the bumper drag then? :D

Have you guys actually driven a VRS with 312 front and std rear brakes and also driven one with the 312 front and 256 rears ?

I've had both combinations on my VRS (for many years and 1000s of miles) and I can say with confidence the brakes are much better with the 256 rears, it feels much more balanced under braking compared to just having the 312 on the front.

Its ok having an opinion but if you have never experienced using both then you may be misleading the original poster.

312mm front rotors with calipers/carriers are a good upgrade. And they fit under 16" wheels.
