Dumped my Yeti

Featured Replies

With the TBM running out on my 108,000 mile 9 year old Yeti I was not prepared to take the risk of keeping it any longer. It has had a “free” EGR replacement (£1000 job). I was concerned that something else would go, injectors?, another EGR? Post “fix” the particulte filter was actively regenerating more. I’m another “fix regretter”.  I have lost my confidence in diesels.

Shame, I really liked that car.

 At one time I was certain I would never buy another VW Group car.  I have a good relationship with the local dealer despite not being a regular car buyer. This was a big factor in buying another Skoda.

Whilst my Yeti was in for an MoT I test drove a Karoq 1.5 tsi DSG SE L and it ticked most of the boxes.  The dealer had one on the floor exactly the same spec with 60 miles on the clock. I bought it at a price cheaper than I could get with any Carwow or Drive the Deal discount. I picked it up two days later.

I won’t go into what I like (which is most of it) but at the moment there are only two mild negatives.  The styling is bland to say the least and the 18” Bridgestone Turanzas are noisy.

One very minor plus, the rubber mats from the Yeti fit.

I have now moved over to the Briskoda Karoq forum. Having fitted an underseat tray on the Yeti I’ll have to look into fitting trays to the Karoq.

Hopefully your car won't suffer from the 1st gear kangeroo problems that others are having.

Best of luck, hopefully not out of the Frying pan and into the fire.

There are only some with 1.5TSI with DSG's reporting issues, but best check up on that and be sure all is well,

maybe a longer test drive is needed.

It’s a DSG, no kangarooing.

Sadly great if true.,  but then some seem to think they have kangerooing, and also cutting out, and Skoda UK are saying a Fix by the end of the 2nd quarter 2019'

for something Dealerships were saying they had never heard of or experienced as were Skoda UK Customer Services, until they had to admit they had heard of.

Yes not kangarooing, but there has been reports of difficulty of driving smoothly at slow speed, hunting/lurching slightly on a steady throttle, so not all is a bed of roses in the DSG camp.

If it was I would have ordered one as we are going for an "auto" next. I'm waiting for the issues around the 1.5 TSI to be fully sorted or looking elsewhere.

Go to 15 minutes;

£30.000 plus for premium kangarooing/characteristic and what damage could it be doing to the DSG trying to compensate?????????
