Ebay Fabia silly claim...

Featured Replies

Depends on how optimistic the rolling road you visit is.

£200 remap as well. Is a little optimistic to say the least. :)

Would have been better to have said will do 180bhp with a £400 remap. :)

I Emailed the seller via EBay with the following:

"Hi mate, nice looking car at a good price but can you answer me this simple question:

It is simply not possible to get a real 204 bhp from just a £200 remap, to get that you would need a larger front mounted intercooler, hybrid turbo and a remap, this would cost nearly £2,000 not £200.

£200 Would get you a tuning box which at most would produce between 160-170 bhp. £400 'potentially' could get you 180 bhp dependant upon which tuner you visited, but you would also need a Ibiza Cupra PD160 TDi air intake and a green panel filter (JabbaSport do this).

Just wanted to clarify this mate, good luck with the sale."

I know an FMIC isnt definately needed but to ensure you are always getting the 204 bhp it is advised.

Its the Briskoda EBay Police! (again)

dont want to see someone buying the car under false pretences.

Also liking the 'unmodded' max speed of 135mph - more like 120-125mph AFAIK.

And, if the 'light damage to rear' was fixed so 'professionly' (sic), why are the rear badges too far down on the boot lid? Rear-end shunt with new boot lid, I reckon...

I smell :goldfish: :D

HOW!!!! How the hell can anyone put pictures up of a dirty car up for sale?? It baffles me, it really does

Seen the User ID? "salvage4u2"

Sounds like it might be a cat D repaired car, if its had a major back end whack... In this example I would get it checked out - I think I can make out the reg in the rear quarter shot. :)

Might offter

i will take pictures of my spedo tonight at 130 on the way home from work

The speedo will over-read...130 won't actually be 130...

Rob.

carnt argue with that, any idea of way to accuratly find the top speed? apart from being caught by the filth? would be intresting to see what they can actually do as skoda are quite conservative with their 0-60 times they may be the same with the top end book speed?

Get yourself GPS satnav - that'll show how fast you're actually going.

An indicated 130mph in my Octavia is a GPS indicated 124mph.

like the work your doing boys, i hate lying ebay scum! but 120-125? i will take pictures of my spedo tonight at 130 on the way home from work, my vrs is standard apart from a cracked rear bumper from some bint in a car park!

wouldnt advise taking a pic of you doing 130 on a public road mate. Especially when you'd be driving 1 handed!

My car is now about 2.5 - 3% over reading on the speedo. 80 mph indicated is usually a GPS 77mph, maybe 76. Not too bad though.

:iagree: ....surely the first thing you would do is clean it!...ahh well his loss!

i always make sure the roads clear' date=' i have a total disregard for my own safety but would not endanger other peoples well being, i have a golf vr6 as a 2nd car and have got several pictures of that doing 155 on the m4, thats a 3am job though. and yes, it has the guvner removed (146mph)[/quote']

no point going off topic anymore so i'll refrain from making further comments

That car is going to sell nowhere near it's buy it now price, so even with the damage repair it could be money well spent

Interestingly, the speedo on my wife's Fabia is pretty much 100% "bang on" up to 100mph checked against the "Talex" GPS I fitted to it, I haven't been over 100mph yet in her car though. :D

I reckon it's probably down to the non-standard alloys I fitted to it (the old one's from my Golf ).

It's now fitted with 15" Golf Tdi rims with 195X65X15 tyres which because of the bigger rim & tyre diameter, has probably had the effect of removing the usual 5% (ish) under read usually found on the speedometers on these cars.

Could be a really shady remap give me 200 quid and i'll fook about with settings whap the fuel and boost up and youll have 204hp for about 5 minutes kinda thing.

sounds like usual scrappie bull.

From EBay advert:

"These are amazing cars! 130BHP (and tuneabe to 204bhp with only a remap.) 6 speed manual transmission."

Anyone on here own this car? Sorry but 204 bhp is not atainable with just a remap.

Chris.

I am impressed with the fact that it is advertised showing pictures of it covered in **** with brake dust over the wheels

If your on Briskoda mr Fabia 204 remap :-) take yourself in the corner and slap yourself with one of shifty's jumbo haddocks!!!!!!!

Ok.

I've received a reply from the EBayer which reads:

"Hi Chris, just what Jabba told me over the phone, just repeating what they told me and not that bothered but thanks anyway! Regards Mike"

Jabba would tell him this, and the only reason he makes a reference to "Jabba" is because I mentioned it in my Email to him! I don't think he has a clue what he's on about and tbh, his attitude about not being bothered about false advertising is pretty poor.

:thumbdwn:

why do we all care soo much?

the person buying will look into this claim. I doubt people will buy it for the tuning potential anyway.

if they don't look into it then it's thier fault.
