2009 Octy TDi EState with Rear Light issues following bulb Replacement

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a 2009 Octavia MK II Estate.  I have just changed every bulb in the rear light clusters (They were 10 years old and starting to turn black).

Now none of the four rear 'wedge' bulbs light up, neither do the reversing lights or fog lights.  There are no errors according to the Garage's VCDS, all fuses are ok and the wiring checks out as ok.   Any thoughts please?  I did wonder if I should disconnect the battery for a while to reset the computer(s)?

Thanks

Alan

As these lights are controlled electronically, I would try removing the battery for a few minutes. Control is via the Power Control Unit on pre-facelift and its equivalent (combined?) unit on facelift models. Check too fuse 49 at the end of the dash (light switch fuse), or equivalent in your models' handbook.

Check the bulb carrier, the plastic bit you put the bulbs in, the plastic crumbles over time, I had to replace mine.

About £20 each.

Hi thanks for your help,  the car seems to have fixed itself!  It was left overnight in the garage workshop pending the battery disconnection etc. and now everything seems to work as it should!  Very strange. Cheers

Alan
