Centre Console storage LED

Featured Replies

Hey,

I noticed few months ago that light inside centre console storage compartment never goes off, but at that time I didn't have much time to go into it, but after some time I realized that's still going on. Now  because it literally never goes off while driving is it possible that its not meant to go off? But that sounds pretty dumb to me as that would wear out the light for no good reason?

Now there’s an interesting question!

However could it be that there’s a hidden switch which operates when the lid is opened?

I really don’t know the answer but maybe leaving a phone video recording inside the cubby would prove it one way or the other?

Sorry If  I wasn't clear. Its 100% all the time ON. I can see it through small gap that there is between the lid and the bottom side. The light goes through. That's how I noticed it.
P.S.: My question is if there is a switch and mine is dead or every one has the same thing going on?

Mine is also on all the time

Have you tried turning off all ambient lighting to see if that goes off with it? Not sure if its linked to the footwell lights of the ambient led strips.  I dont mind that light so never tried.

No. Sounds little silly that this would be linked to ambient lighting? Also even if it were, I don't want to turn on ambient lightning cause of storage space light which should be turned off while storage is closed =(.
Footwell lightning is OFF in my car.

The proximity sensor has detected you are looking, so its switched the LED on to help you....

Do you think there maybe a dead cat in the compartment ?

Hmm why r u guys having laugh at this? :D
I'm actually slightly concerned about this issue. Taking in account its a LED bulb it will probably last a long time but still its so wasteful to have it on all the time even when the lid is closed.

Well, I checked mine today and no lighting on in my car. Are all your switches, overhead console, headlights etc in off position? Closed  vanity mirrors?

Do you have Kessy? Maybe lock the car and check through window with Key away from car.

Did you even read my first post? I mentioned in first post that I noticed this while driving and that its all the time on while car is on. =/... Obviously it turns off while car is closed/locked... It gets little hot after while too (while car is running). My only question/issue is why it doesn't turn off when lid is closed. If that's normal or should I visit my dealer (which will probably say its normal, never heard of the issue and mess up half car trying to fix something that might not even be fixable).

Not going to say any more on that.

The reason it doesn't go out is obviously that it would cost Skoda between 1 and 5 euros extra for parts and a couple of euros more for assembly, If its a monitored light , a switch would add even more. Skoda is a budget brand An led light will last the life of the car anyway and only consumes a few milliamps, so why bother?

Haha. Probably what they thought when assembling the car yes! They did bother with switch in passenger storage box though  ... Why's that?

Tradice (tradition), or they missed that one, maybe the base models have a conventional bulb in the glovebox. Who knows?
