It's either your age or BOSE system :D

But you're right, it depends on the recording - nothing's going to enhance a crappy recording. And then it depends on the components - we're talking the cheapest of the cheap in our cars.

All things being equal tho, a CD doesn't just sound better, it's better by miles. In fact it's not even a contest. Better sound still if you fitted a Linn turntable in the Skoda, but then again completely pointless connecting via USB.

Used to have them on my 2017 model, however latest model costs about £210 extra which is a shame.

Cheers for the clarification. Thought so. Can't believe they're not standard.

But if you can hear the difference then the only thing I can suggest is to try plugging a CD player into the USB socket?

ActuallyI download songs from youtube and rip them in a CD. I have tried same songs in CDs and USB drives. I found CD's quaity is way better than others.

So the difference you're hearing isn't caused by the A-D & (lossy?) compression to create the file on youtube (or elsewhere) but by the difference in the decompression & D-A between a .CDA file on a CD and another file on a USB?

Maybe my over 60 year old hearing is at fault - but TBH I can't tell the difference between listening to a CD or the same CD ripped using lossless encoding when played on our Bose system at home.

That's because there is no difference.

But if you can hear the difference then the only thing I can suggest is to try plugging a CD player into the USB socket?

Or the 3.5 mm aux socket?
