Does Octavia SE L 16plate has auto folding wing mirror

Featured Replies

Guys, i am about to go buy a SE L as i couldnt find any Elegance within my Range.

Could somebody help me if SE L has the following features as standard.

Auto dimming rear view mirroe

High beam assist

Auto foldable wing nirrors

Or any other features that even elegance hasn't.

Quick reply would be very much appreciated.

Thank you.

my 2015 SEL has all those features.

Elegance and SE-L are the same spec level give or take other MY changes. HBA was never standard until the FL. The hardware is usually there on SE-L spec cars to get it to work though.

Elegances (circa 2013 at any rate) do have high beam assistant as standard.
Looks like there's still a brochure on the Sinclair Skoda website
https://www.sinclairskoda.co.uk/pdfs/brochures/brochure_octavia.pdf

I went to test drive a 2014 Elegance with xenons and it didn’t have HBA, several members on here have also had to activate it themselves on Elegance spec cars. If it ever was standard, it wasn’t consistent.

Interesting. I have a May 2014 brochure and that also claims HBA was standard for Elegance trim.

My 2013 Elegance has it, and I have to say it is a bit haphazard in how well it decides when to dip the lights. It was switched off in infotainment when I got it, although I'm not sure whether that was by default or because it annoyed the previous owner too much.
So maybe they took it out of the Elegance spec in order to improve it?!

The vRS brochure for 2013/14 said that cornering front fogs would be standard and they weren’t! Skoda say all sorts in their brochures. The lower spec HBA camera is not as good the A5 lane assist camera but it gets the job done. Either way, I’ve not heard of an Elegance or SE-L spec car that didn’t at least have the hardware for HBA, activated ot otherwise :)

My 2014 Elegance had HBA as standard, a right pain... way too late in dipping the lights for me. But my 2017 SE-L has them as well and is much better to the point I actually use them.

Colleague recently bought a 16 plate Octavia SEL Estate and it has folding mirrors when you lock it.

A lot of lease Elegance/SEL came with 16" wheels instead of the standard 17" wheels.

As for the comments above my MY15 Elegance came with HBA but it also had the Xenon option fitted.

My 68 plate SEL had all these features as standard.

Oh, the other down side is, there is no cd/dvd player. only USB, Memory card slot and 3.5mm jack. by the way, is it possible to upgrade it to CD/DVD player?

You may be the only person who still uses CD/DVD.

Why not rip them and copy them onto a USB stick or SD card?

You must be joking. CD/DVD's quality of sound is way better than sd/memory card. So if i have an option to upgrade it (within my means) i will rather do it.

It’s costly to upgrade to a MIB2.5 Columbus with a CD drive. I have had my car 16 months and I’ve never put a CD in it, for 12 of those months it had a MIB2 Amundsen in it with no CD player. I’ve not used a CD in years! You would be down about £1200 to put a Columbus in. A lot to pay for just a CD player.

Not interested anymore. its not worth it. thanks for the idea SashaGrace.

On the subject of power mirrors, my drivers mirror does not completely fold back (still under warranty).

I can't see them lasting long anyway with the option of working every time the ignition is switched on and off. Mine get folded in on the switch only when it's necessary.

Even if you use lossless encoding?

And anyway in the noisy environment of a moving car are you really going to hear the difference???

Try yourself listening a CD and same song in USB device or Memory card. You will find yourself the difference.

Maybe my over 60 year old hearing is at fault - but TBH I can't tell the difference between listening to a CD or the same CD ripped using lossless encoding when played on our Bose system at home.

But if you can hear the difference then the only thing I can suggest is to try plugging a CD player into the USB socket?

It's either your age or BOSE system :D

But you're right, it depends on the recording - nothing's going to enhance a crappy recording. And then it depends on the components - we're talking the cheapest of the cheap in our cars.

All things being equal tho, a CD doesn't just sound better, it's better by miles. In fact it's not even a contest. Better sound still if you fitted a Linn turntable in the Skoda, but then again completely pointless connecting via USB.

100% agree with how great a Lin turntable is.

Visited their factory in the early 1990's when the company I worked for and Linn were considering a joint venture to get DTI/EU funding.
