Skoda Fabia Hatchback (00 on) 1.9 TDI Comfort 5d

1235 kg

Skoda Fabia vRS (03 on) 1.9 TDI PD (130bhp) 5d

1315 kg

thats a whole lot of extra weight, where from?icon5.gif?

I don't really know the spec of the 1.9TDI Comfort. 80Kg isn't that much... but I'd say bigger brakes and wheels would contribute to a lot of it! Badges, spoiler, green caliper paint, sports seats...

Err how about a whacking great multi shaft six speed gearbox?

 I think someone's accounted for the weight difference :D

haha oh ye didnt really give the gearbox much thought

80kg makes a noticable difference, but the extra power of the vRS makes up for it.

Is the ASZ core engine a bit "chunkier" internally than the ATD engine as well? I know the ARL engine I had recently weighed a lot, and that was without turbo or box. :)

PD130 turbo a bit chunkier perhaps too? But as Ross says, the box weighs a lot more (I've had to lug both around a bit recently - the 5 speed is a doddle in comparison  )

The ASZ and ARL are the same engine internally.

80 kg is the same as having a 12.5 stone passenger permently!! never thought it was that much.

Yup, if you put a 80KG weight in the car you'd soon know about it

Chris

That's just one of her breasts :D

According to the carrying capability of my old mini me and swm couldn't sit in it together

Now you know why I ditched 80kg of ICE out the back of my car after the conversion. That was just to offset the extra weight up front. :D

80kg of ICE, WTF did you have?

80kg equates to almost 18 gallons of frozen water, if that helps :duck:

FWIW just thought I'd mention that such an extra level of weight is worth considering in terms of handling. I find equalised distribution is good, so normally carry extra passengers horizontally on the roof :)

My brother has removed the rear seats on his 172 and it makes the rear end wild.

I had three decent amplifiers, solid false floor, and a pair of JL 12" subwoofers, and all the wiring. It really was adding a lot of boot weight (80kg maybe an overestimate, but 70kg is easily accurate)
