Temperature on vRS

Featured Replies

Hey,

I'm noticing that most of the time the temp guage gets to about 82degrees

and stays there.

(when I say most, like 99% of the time)

and that's over a mixture of motorways, main roads and backroads,

Sometimes, it gets to 90. (but on very rare occasions)

Do you think everything's alright running around 82,

or should I start poking around and find a cause?

thanks,

Stephen.

my vRS runs at near enough 90 all the time... occasionally it goes over by about half a mm then the fans kick in and it goes back to 90.

i asked the same question when i first got mine... its totally normal.

i assume its the temp rating on the thermostat, my old car used to run an 82deg one and i made the mistake of replacing it with a 89deg one once...

mine runs at 90 all the time after warming up (Vertical on the gauge)

Ian

Might need a new coolant temp sensor, do you know if you have a black or green one?

No idea,

where abouts on the engine are they and I'll check?

I assume it's just the external colour that's black or green?

March 2002 Irish Octy VRS if it's any help.

My vrs temp, gauge needle also runs at 90 (summer or winter).

Same here

Once warmed up (about 5 mins) mine sits rock solid at 90C (needle vertical) & I haven't seen it deviate in the 6 months I've had it.

I am trying to find a reference to this green and black sensor - i gather the green sensors are ok, and the black are the older ones and prone to fail?

I ask as mine is playing up and want to know what i should be looking for in the form of a replacment.

EDIT: Ignore this post as i have looked and searched further and found that the green 4 wire is the little beast i require! Thanks
