First Skoda just purchased!

Featured Replies

Hello Everyone, I'm proud to finally be joining your ranks at last. I had the joy of driving a Mk1 Skoda Superb as a replacement company car for a month or two some five years back and I've dreamed of owning my own ever since. The hallowed day has finally come and I've made the jump from my cheap as chips (and not very cheerful) Peugeot 207 1.6L HDI 90bhp Sport to a glorious (to me!) 2013 ŠKODA Superb 2.0 TDI CR Elegance DSG 170BHP 5D Hatchback with 81,000 on the clock. I should be picking up "Jeeves" (for that is what I have named him) on Wednesday and I can't remember the last time I was this excited. Maybe when I bought my Oculus Rift. Maybe.

I'm getting towards my fifties now and this is the first time I feel like I've actually chosen a car that I want rather than what was around that I could afford. Jeeves is in a stunning (to me, I know not everyone is a fan!) maroon with the ivory leather interior. I've never cared about or had the choice of colours I liked before! I took him for a test drive with the good lady today and I was even more impressed with the Mk2 than I remember being with the Mk1. The ride was incredibly smooth, the engine and gearbox responsive and the brakes ferocious. I was sold on the spot.

I'd done extensive research here using the many tips and expert advice you all have to know what to look out for and how to upgrade and maintain the car I've chosen so I want to say a big thank you to you all. I'm certain I'll be around asking questions and being a general fan boy. I've attached a picture of my new pride and joy, hope that's allowed for a newb.

If you have any tips of any sort on ownership of this beast of a vehicle, I'm all ears. I'm particularly in to updating the Columbus and Maps, any extra accessories you'd recommend, best oil manufacturer, anything you have really.

Sorry for going on, I'm just really excited to finally be part of the club and can't wait to get going in my amazing car.

A warm welcome to the Forum !  Great pic:thumbup:

I’m excitedly waiting for my collection date too! I think the combo of maroon over beige is fabulous, saw it on a YouTube clip (only a couple of seconds in a longer video) but unfortunately they don’t seem to do it anymore.

Wish you many many happy miles of smiles with the new car

Thanks! Busy getting ready to upgrade the maps and toying with the purchase of a VCDS. It's a shame they don't do this colour scheme anymore, I think it's lovely. What sort of Skoda are you waiting on?

Gone for a superb estate 150 DSG L&K , petrol blue over beige. I’d initially wanted emerald green over beige but the only one on call-down had a pan roof which put it out of budget. The beige interior was, to me, more important than the outside colour (within reason). As I’m too impatient to wait, and liked the petrol blue colour, we went for it!

Should be with us by end of March. Currently I’ve downloaded to manual to look at as I’ve watched just about every English language Superb YouTube clip that exists:giggle:

Oooh Very nice! The blue is what I'd have gone for if I couldn't get the maroon. Wish I could have got the L&K, my Mrs would appreciate the ventilated seats I think. Our YouTube playlists probably look about the same at this point! I'm surprised at how popular the Superb seems to be in India. Lots of videos from there. Not too long till the end of March, seems like an eternity when you're waiting for your new toy though!

I hope it turns out to be everything you want and more.

Hello Fishlex and family welcome to the Skoda forum , enjoy your new motor .B)

Follow up post. Got the car yesterday and did the daily commute today. Pure heaven! Such a smooth, effortless ride. I'll be taking the good Mrs. Fishlex to Wales this week for an good bomb around the countryside. Can't wait! Car is amazing, Columbus is a bit slow though. Anyone got a good recommendation for a tablet mount that won't obscure the windscreen? Rather have Waze running.

Oh, ran an obd over it and found no faults. Massive relief!

I regret nothing!

Thanks for any and all advice in advance.

One happy Skoda owner.

Good to see you and the missus enjoying your superb , no faults good to know , don't have the EA189 /  23R6 emissions update if serviced by Skoda .;)

Thanks Jed, much appreciated. Thanks for the info, what's wrong with that update, worse fuel consumption? Is there a way I can tell if its been applied? Thanks in advance.

Welcome along and a great choice with the colour.  I had one in that exact colour combo and loved it.  Rosso Brunella (that's the name Skoda gave to the maroon) and beige leather looks fantastic.  If they still did that colour I have one again
