1.2 12v mpg?

Featured Replies

Quick question from a newbie Fabia driver, I seem to be getting about 45.65 mpg overall, thats from a mixture of A & B roads, narrow country lanes and stop start driving in towns. Is that about the expected average MPG for the 1.2 HTP 12v estate?

aj

Skoda quote 47.1mpg combined for the estate.

Your figure seems pretty good to me

was getting in the low 50's out of mine  its a diesel in disguise!

Thanks for the replys, appreciated, I'm hoping mpg will increase a little as the engine loosens up, its only done 1200 miles so far so early days yet.

Mmm, 32mpg from my 2yr old 1.2 12v Silverline hatch after 2 months on the daily commute. Thats about 15% less than the quoted urban MPG of 37. I'm not too worried as it's probably because I'm still getting used to a small car again and I drive it like it's a bigger faster car :o On the plus side it's much better than the 19mpg I was getting in the larger car.

hmmmm, dont most vrs's get very similar mpg and go much quicker?

not taking anything away from the 1.2 12v it's an excellent performer :D

Fabia VRS - Insurance group 9

Fabia 1.2 12v - Insurance group 2

Similar MPG.

If you only do short journeys, just passed your test, or want ultra cheap motoring the 1.2 12v is the one to get.

And it's 4,000 cheaper if not more.

I was just suprised that the vRS matches it in terms of economy.

I get an average of around 33mpg. But most driving is done in city traffic. On a long country run it would average in the mid 50's

im think thats great out of a petrol engine and I avarage 44 mpg in the vrs, but did get 61.2 on the motorway ( was speed restiction of 50 in 6th though lol)

i got 35 in the loaner car i had but thats because i luv the noise it makes just before the red line its and awesome wee car

The noise is great i want a turbo one.

I got 21 from the 1.2 courtesy car I had. But then I was trying to drive it like I drive my own :D

MY local dealer always dishes out basic courtesy cars and doesn't even valet the vehicle - my supplying dealer gave me an Octy vRS courtesy and valeted mine.

Crappy midlanders :thumbdwn:

The 1.2 is the engine to get for cheap motoring. Cracking little engine, leaps and bounds ahead of the 1.4 engines.

Agree on the noise, went out for a spin in a 6v one yesterday and I couldn't stop laughing it sounded so great :D

I fancy a 1.2 12v Sport now

I've got the HTP Classic at the moment.

Love the noise :D

Hate the performance - cruises OK but dislikes hills and I get out accelerated by Sprinter vans

Dislike the economy - I'm getting 33 on the 76 mile commute to work :(

Have you got the 6v one or the 12v one (Red P on the HTP badge)

The 6v one seemed to cruise okay on a flat level and even seemed quite torquey at slow speeds (1st, 2nd gear).

I'd imagine the 12v one is much better overall and probably gives better MPG too because you don't have to drive it quite so hard.

Brilliant little car for under

Mine is the mighty 6V

I had a 1.2 sport yesterday when mine was in for it's service - second courtesy car in 2 weeks :thumbdwn:

Really is a crap car as far as driving goes - my missus's 1.3 Getz absolutely leaves it for dead and costs less, as well as being (statistically) more reliable (no probs in 2 yrs), having free servicing and a 5 yr warranty.
