I appreciate the thread/question is primarily about cables but thought I would share this anyway as wireless charging is mentioned. Hope some people find it useful

You obviously can't close the compartment cover but I feed the lead out of the gap at the side of the console and sit the pad over the cup holder area. You can push it back far enough to transport of coffee cup if/when required

If you don't want to plug the adapter into the front socket you can use the one at the rear of the console facing the back seats

I find the standard wireless charging pad built in to the car creates too much heat when the phone is running Google Maps / Waze, my iphone gets alarmingly hot.......

FWIW, I have not found that a problem with the aftermarket pad I bought
