Seriously? They didn't have one torx set between them?

And the Skoda garage where you're buying a brand new car wouldn't/couldn't help?

I can't quite believe this story anymore.

I agree, if you are buying a car from them I can’t believe they aren’t prepared to help - Suggest you call the Sales Manager and voice your complaint loudly. It’s only a few minutes job for someone whose done it before (and they must have) or a fifteen minute job if first time. Very bad customer service.

  • If you are changing cars perhaps the supplying garage would provide the muscle power required - it is not too heavy even for a car salesman!!

At the moment not buying the car from them as they don't have what I want.  But they service the car.  Anyway, all sorted.

UPDATE - now proud owner of 2017 petrol 1.2 DSG SE (no ''L' unfortunately)!  However, 2,000 miles on the clock.  Click'n'Collect from Arnold Clarke.

They transported it down from Scotland and I p/exd mine at the MK depot - so easy.  Both unseen.

Their Milton Keynes c'n'c staff were extremely helpful in trying to fit the spare wheel kit from the 4x4 Yeti - its just about OK - but there are differences.  If you are being particular - no it doesn't all fit!!

Now concerned that it has the 7 gear DSG.  Fingers crossed!!!!

Well, you have still got over one years warranty on the whole car, including DSG box. When the warranty expires you could always buy an aftermarket warranty that will cover the DSG box (just check before buying).

On the bright side it is said that the DQ200 7 speed box was improved in 2016 - various tech reports but nothing definitive - and it is now more reliable. I have had 2 Yeti’s with the DQ200 DSG box; the first was a 2012 model and I had no problems in 60,000 miles, the second is a 2017 model and the box is definitely smoother and more refined than that in the 2012 model. Seems to be much more positive with little to no hesitation when in those on power, off power, on power modes - like skooting into a space on a roundabout. Previous DSG box had more hesitation in those situations, you learnt to ‘drive’ around it but newer box is much sweeter in those situations. One bit of advice I got was to slip the gear-lever into Neutral if you were stationary for any length of time to avoid possible wear on the clutches - of course if you are using Stop/Start then this doesn’t apply! I must admit to switching Stop/Start off in traffic because I don’t like the repeated off - restart of the engine - but that’s just me!

The clutches will only be wearing if the brake pedal is not firmly applied.

Some apply the handbrake when still in drive and take their foot off the brake; that will quickly wear out the clutch. I have seen aprofessional Skoda driver do this!

Stop start doesn’t help as the engine restarts as soon as you take your foot off the brake.

In the 26k miles I have done with my first dsg in the last 22 months there have only been a handful of occasions when I have used neutral with the handbrake on. Normally only during a regen when the engine won’t stop in my diesel, and a few times at railway crossing when a long wait seemed likely. Even there I would by preference use park and the handbrake?

You are completely right - but it is all too easy to ‘relax’ the pressure on the footbrake if the stop is extended and then the clutch plates are slipping. Putting the box into Neutral eliminates any possibility of engaging the clutch. It is just a safety action but as long as you can keep good pressure on the footbrake then everything will be fine.

@twoladies

Enjoy.

Sadly no 'L'  and also no 'E' at the and of that ARNOLD CLARK yellow sticker.

I fink the rear end looks much nicer than my Monte Carlo and it also has 'go-faster' stripes on the side.  No black roof sadly.  Fingers well xxd that it will see me out!!  Sorry Arnold - did I spell thy name wrong?

I now put her into neutral and apply the handbrake on a hill - howzat?!!  Learn something new every day!

Leather seats would have been nice - but I have to cover with waterproof seat covers anyway - horsey car!!

Just looked at the website and they have sold my car already!!  No price now - glad I missed it really!!  Better not to know!!

Just checked the tyre - spare on 4x4 exactly same tyre as those on my 2wd 1.2.

Now found the price of my wonderful Yeti Monte 170 DSG diesel which I pxd..  Cheaper than I paid for the 1.2 petrol although the 1.2 is two years younger.

I realise its to do with dealer profit etc. but also to do with the fact that diesels are no longer desirable.  Or perhaps because it is in Scotland?

Hopefully, this Yeti 'will see me out'!!!
