Wireless phone charger?

Featured Replies

After reading some contradictory information, I am a bit unsure now if the Kodiaq still comes with the wireless phone charger. I understand the signal booster is illegal in the UK and so it has been pulled from the Kodiaq. Can people who have taken MY19 deliveries confirm if the cats have the wireless charger?

Wireless charger & signal booster - Europe yes, but not in the UK.

Today’s news reports that Apple have announced they will NOT now be producing their previously-promoted wireless charging mat, because of heat problems.  I seem to recall some reports of fires in cars with wireless charging equipment?

Saw this:

don’t know if it works.

It does look as though the gubbins on the underside could get pretty hot!

I wonder if those Kodiaq's that were never intended to have the wireless charging feature from the factory have the wiring ready to accept this retrofit.

I wonder if it is able to connect to the oem wiring. I only see 2 wired. So i guess it should connect to a switched 12v supply.

it is only a charger. Not a signal amplifier. I don’t think you will get the charging message on the nav display either.

does anyone know if this is present in the MY21 Kodiaq, or is it still missing?

As far as I’ve heard no. Might reappear in the forecasted facelift, due sometime.

IIRC it was an option on our MY21 build but didn't take it at over £100. Have a nice wireless charger sat in the bottom of the tray in the new Octavia with a 30cm USB-C - micro cable, £20, job done. Will do the same in the Kodiaq.

Thanks - so long as it sits neatly in the tray without cables everywhere that should work fine. Do you have a link for the one you went for? Many thanks.

Many thanks.

If you go to the skoda site and build your own Kodiaq, from the SEL trim and above there is wireless charging as standard.

Can't see it as an option an any lower spec models.

Thanks Billywizzo - has that recently changed? I dont recall seeing that in the last month or so.

Was in dealer to collect our Kodiaq this morning and there was two SEL’s being delivered both had phone chargers according to the service rep as he drove them into storage.

sounds promising!

Went to look at my brand new Kodiaq  prior to collection The other day and it definitely had the wireless charger in it

Curiously, I've just watched a Youtube review of the new 2021 Jaguar F Pace facelift, and it states that it now has wireless phone charging and a signal booster. Seems like they can be utilised in the UK after all. I wonder how they differ from the Skoda version or licensing?:wondering:

I’ve just taken delivery of a 2021 L&K and it has wireless charging just that neither of my phones support it 😩

Ha!!

well you Know what you have to do my friend.......

upgrade!

i was reading the other thread about MY21 and it looks like yours may be a 21 car. I think mine is as well as the steering wheel looks like the new one with the silver horizontal scroll wheels

From the bright side - if you are using Waze a lot, wireless charger becomes useless as the phone is connected with a cable anyway.

Wireless charger makes sense with wireless Androd Auto / Carplay. Or if you don`t use AA / Carplay at all.

Used mine just once when I got the car.

I’m not quite so down on wireless charging. I don’t use Apple car play (although in my21 it’s wireless which will be a lot more convenient) and I used wireless charging every single day for the three years I had my last Kodiaq so I was gutted when I thought it wasn’t included with n my new one.

much better than having a cable draped across the gear box, you can keep that compartment closed (looks neater) and if you have a mate in the car who has android or different charging type phone they can get a little battery too.

also the my21 use USB C I believe which means crappy little adapters for cables...
