Fitting a glasses storage box

Featured Replies

There's an option on the Yeti for a glass storage box at the back of the roof console behind the driving mirror but Zebedee doesn't have that, just a blanking plate. I see that several Chinese vendors on eBay sell this part but I'm worried as to how easy it will be to remove the blanking plate and fit one, if indeed it's possible at all. Has anyone been this way already?

The blanking plate is just clipped in and can be levered out using some hard plastic sticks, and then the glasses case clipped back.
The picture above shows where the clips are.
To be honest it is that good. There isn't much room inside for a large pair of glasses and they easily fall out when you open it.
The one fitted to the Karoq is much better.

The 'glasses interior box' on the Superskoda site  (item YET-SGHA)  offers

- fits all Yeti models
- OEM Skoda auto,a.s. product
- easy to install for everyone
- if you don´t have this box from factory, this is your choice
- just remove the cover and replace it with this box
- very practical item

suggesting the blanking plate is simple to remove

Thank you. I'll get one ordered.

... let's not any of that sort of talk here ;)

ps   my Rayban Aviators don' fit, even in a soft case

I have a drop down glasses case in my L&K. Waste of time in my opinion, wouldn't bother, as they will only allow a pair of glasses with arms that fold totally flat, to be stored. Anything else such as 'wraparounds' (or Aviators, as above comment) etc. No chance, won't fit in

I think I've got one from Superskoda in the garage

I'll have a look tomorrow

I was sure I had one from my Yeti kicking about at the back of the garage but can't see it. Sorry

Don't worry, they're cheap as chips from China so I've ordered on from there. Won't arrive until May mind you. <shrug>

Always thought they were an asset never any probs well worth fitting.

I use mine for my driving glasses and its perfectly fine.

Its a really usefull storage for my glasses that I can access safely when driving.

And contrary to one comment above it is not supposed to take the glasses case as well!

Don't order one yet!  I have one from an earlier Yeti of mine. They are a standard fit and easy to fit yourself.

If it's any help you can have it fro cost of postage.

Thanks, but I've already ordered one, for a whopping £7.49 including postage from China (how do they make any money on this I'm left wondering?).

One of the great imponderables of the modern age

I could do with one :)

Well that came from China remarkably quickly (ordered 5/4, arrived today, a week later) and, as Llanigraham predicted it was easy to fit. Used a credit card to free the two top clips on the blanking plate and it then popped out. Just needed a bit of violence to get the new one in. Cost me £7.49 from these people of anyone else wants one.

cool quality and colour match looks good, may have to bag one myself, you say its a pig to get it in.

No,  you just have to use a bit more force than I anticipated. The thing I'd missed initially was that the bottom goes inside the lip. Once I've realised this was necessary then it popped in with a bit of force.

BTW if you ever want to smuggle something there's a useful void to the left and right of the hole into which quite a lot could be put ... B)

My experience was the same as paul's, same price and supplier, really quick delivery. I used the handle of a Boot's medicine spoon to release the clips on the blank plate for removal. The new case was a bit reluctant to clip in, but eventually in she went. Identical colour match! I'm going to use it for static caravan keys, so I always know exactly were they are when I visit it. And spare fuses. It'll soon fill up I suppose.

Thank you for this - one of the questions I've been actively looking for an answer to! Have ordered one from the ebay listing mentioned above 🤤.

Found it deeply irritating that the glasses case wasn't fitted as a standard in the Yeti - surely could only have been a matter of pennies extra.

It was fitted as standard in certain specifications.

To only fit it in "certain specifications" is, or rather was, a damn silly decision - nickel & diming! The lack of storage "cubbies" is my major gripe against the Yeti; I chopped in a VW CC for the Yeti, which had storage spaces aplenty (including the glasses box 😉), by comparison the Yei is very poorly provisioned. But the door pockets in the Yeti are much better :) .

The base spec didn't even have a lid on the dashtop box!

Little things like the glasses holder only appeared on higher spec models.

Typical of all manufacturers

You are, sadly, correct 😞
