What he forgot to say is that it all fits inside the glovebox. Why is my nose growing?:tongueout:

I don't like to boast, but I'm quite used to fitting quite a lot into tight spaces.

I won't comment on that, Lol.................but you've encouraged me to drag mine out of the shed. It is quite a bit bigger than i remember (the tray that is, Lol).

I have recently replaced the false floor in the boot as it was removed for more room for tools previously, and was in the process of reorganising it so will see if i can find a use for the tray. I don't have any illicit substances to stash......

Some bigger Ford cars in the US have a keypad on the driver's door which can be used to lock and unlock the car, so you can leave keys inside securely, like if you are at the beach or something. It's a fantastic idea!

Like one of these??? Lol.

Tilt.

When you drag it out could you please read off and post the part number, my vehicle does not have one and I would like to fit one, the flap seems pointless otherwise.

Were they a standard fitment with the luggage cover?

1Z9 867 145.............Standard fit? ....would have thought so. ;)

@J.R. I think you need item 13 here on 7-zap.

I might swap mine for an Ivory one.............hmm.............or should i get Onyx

This has reminded me to get a "Surf key" cut, just the blade and no immobiliser, so I can lock it without the keys hidden inside whilst I go out on the water etc. I used to use a keybox but that fell apart in my hands once, Not sure either mean its covered by insurance.

Dan that is a really good idea, trouble is the immobiliser has been disabled on the uprated ECU I bought for the power increase to make it plug and play.

I might look into sending them my old one to recode then sending them back the flashed one if they will play ball, the new ECU has a higher mileage registered than my car has done but its only visible through VCDS.

It would make me feel a lot safer not having the property keys hidden outside the vehicle, OK I know they can still be found inside.

There's a guy called Vinny who sorted me with a plug and play ecu for my old T4 and offered to put the immobiliser back on for me from the old ecu. If you have trouble let me know as he was bloody helpful

OK, I will bear that in mind when I am next in the UK thanks.

Seems like an awful lot of effort for 'hidey holes'!

Reference your keys, what about a money belt that secured around your midrift, or attach it to a loop via a caribiner?

As for not carrying a wallet, I keep;

a 'Surviver Fiver' and completed coffee coupons in a sealable plastic bag in the sun visor clip for emergencies. I also carry about £6 in shrapnel in a jewelers 'pull bag' in the little tray in the Jumbo Box for parking.

For storing cash for drinks and so on you could stash either just the money, or the money in a nylon wallet in a metal travel mug in the door pocket bottle holder space. Pad it out with either a cloth or coffee sachets or teabags to stop it from rattling.

As for your keys, you could pop them behind the wing mirror glass as your folding them over, that way it doesn't look obvious whilst your doing it.*

*I've not actually tried it, I just thought of it there just now!

jewelers 'pull bag'

What an excellent solution to the visibility and rattle issues; thanks!

On the subject, i have a question about my 2013 mk2 centre console main storage compartment...

Wtf is meant to be revealed by pulling up the little hoop topped slidey thing that only moves up about 1/2" and opens up a hole that goes nowhere other than the sub-console abyss??

It's connected to the a/c so you can have another chilled compartment.

Ahhhhh. Handy for keeping a beverage cool :)
