i f someone has ever fitted and tried Philips xtreme ulinon led H7 gen1 or gen 2 to octavia MK3 , please tell me to ask him something

I did some bulb upgrades on my old O3 & find very little extra distance of vision was to be gained however, the higher the temperature (ie. K) of the replacement bulbs you got, the better my vision was within that range, far less eye strain.

 

IIRC the bulbs I finally settled on were something like 4,350K. Not answered your question directly but hopefully, of some help

Hate to be that guy but...

 

Being a UK based forum there won't be many people who have done this as retrofitting these sort of bulbs is illegal for road use.  I'm sure some will have done it and not had issues at MOT time but UK light fittings are not rated for bulb units like this.

In case anyone plans to use them, I will write what are my problems

 

Firstly randomly had some flickering issues. and always on first switch on the power drops 20% and stays there.

 

Then I bought and fitted Philips canbus decoders and although flickering almost disappeared, the power drop still exists.

 

I don't know if bulbs  are faulty but I think it is car's problem. I am disappointed because Philips is a good brand and bulbs are the most expensive and I suppose should work as should be. Also it is gen 2, which should be better. Maybe gen 1 wouldn't have these issues

Problem will always be the beam light pattern, which will be scattered and blinding the other drivers.

Only on a lens setup you can somehow control that and even then the light spread might be wrong.

although it is strange philips made good work ( with gen 2) with beam light pattern.

i coul say is better than halogen. it is strange but is true.

 

my question was about the way philips led bulbs are working. is it normal that after 2 seconds , power drops 20% ?

 

i asked today a good  car electrician( sorry i f i am not writing it correct) and told me that led bulbs especially for a german 2014 model car , is very dangerous for Cabin comfort systems

AND that a "good" hid kit is more safe for the car.

for example he told me that he uses VERTEX hids a couple of wears without problems

 

in this forum i read that hids are more dangerous and maybe a relay kit for taking power directly car's battery is a way to be safer( but also not 100 %)

 

everyone has different opinion and this is bad

Assuming good quality HID/xenon projectors are used. that'll help with one factor that causes dazzle...

 

However, you'll still be missing the dynamic levelling system ans washers so it's highly likely you'll still cause more dazzle than a factory fitted HID/xenon system.
