1. Yes. Sadly it is called the manual and it isn't an easy read:sadsmile:. I found it easier to play with the infotainment screen and find the options from there.

2. Yes. There is a sticky thread at the top of this forum called "VCDS options". It is very extensive. Be aware though that not all  modifications work on all model years.

3. Yes, in that you can force it to only open with a fob press, but I can't remember how. It is in the manual from memory, though I'm sure someone will be along to explain shortly.

Start-stop can only be disabled permanently using coding I believe. I agree it's awful and disable it manually on every journey.

Tear-drop wipe is where the wipers, after shutting off, wait a couple of seconds then do a single wipe to catch any remaining drops of water. I just push the wiper stalk down...

`Teardrop Wipe`...when the wipers have done their thing, there's a gap of a few seconds and then it the wipes one more time to clear the last few drips.

Beat me to it, Jeff!

Re the stop - start, I agree it can be a bit annoying that it cuts out before you’ve come to a stop. However I guess I’ll just learn to drive round it as a quirk of the car.

But regarding “unsmooth” re-start, a tweak on the steering wheel will restart the engine, so I tend to watch the traffic or other reason for being stopped, and fractionally before I want to move I tweak the wheel and then just drive off. Certainly seems smoother than using the throttle to restart/drive off the park brake all at the same time method.

It got me thinking after reading z1ts "sleeper keeper" post, where he mentioned enabling teardrop wipe.  WTF is that? :D

It's when the wipers give an extra wipe after you've used the screen wash to catch any stray drops that are left.

Cheers all!

Cheers Jeff.  I guess we'll have to dig in the (not brilliant) manual a little more ta.

Tear drop wipe - I wasn't aware cars didn't do this!  Can't remember the last one I had that didn't, anyway.

Wolfie - cheers for the tip regarding the steering wheel and stop/start - I'll pass it on to the wife.

One other problem that's really annoying us at the moment - whenever she tries to call me from the car I get 2s of voice before it cuts off.  If I try to call back it goes straight to voicemail.  This is with her phone connected via bluetooth.  Has happened now with both her personal and work phones, one a Sony and one a Samsung.  This happened to anyone else?

With regards to the keyless entry; if you lock the car with key fob and then within 5 seconds (I think) touch the door handle in the "keyless lock" part on the outside of the handle. This then disables keyless until you next enter the car.

The key fob has to be used to unlock it the next time you unlock. This needs to be done each and every time you want to disable keyless though ie. Every time you walk away from the car.

That's what I do and it just becomes habit like when I check to see if it's actually locked.

It may also work if you touch the handle and then the fob when locking but I've never tried it that way I'm afraid. Others may have tried and let let us know

Ok so got to drive the car again yesterday.  It's really growing on me.  Can feel it's loosened up even just since I last drove it (had c700mi on last, and now on 1100).

Thanks for the tip regarding stop/start and tweaking the steering wheel - works a peach.   I still think I might have to take a look at coding though, as I'm intrigued to see if the stop/start can be modified to restart on brake lift rather than accelerator press.

Also would like to code out keyless entry.  I can't imagine it's a car that's top of the list for stealing but I'd still rather not have that weakness enabled - I can't understand why it's not an option, as to my mind it should be down to the individual if they want keyless entry or not.

I've noticed the thing about the seat not staying at its lowest setting as well.  That's annoying - I find it high enough as it is without it keep moving it a little higher!

More worryingly I've noticed that the steering wheel is off centre.  Hadn't noticed it before, so I don't know if it's taken a knock at some point.  I'll have to ask the wife when she gets back if she's hit any potholes recently - highly likely given the 3rd world state of UK roads.  Bit crap if it's come out the factory like that though.:wondering:  Either way it's annoying as I'll likely have to get it aligned.

The stop-start on mine (220 DSG) restarts when you lift your foot off the brake. It only waits until you press the accelerator if you have the auto handbrake enabled.

Super annoyed that the front seat wont stay in the lowest position. Any one have a solution for this?

Not that I have seen, annoys me too.,

If you have selected an individual driver profile - deselect it. For some weird software reason if you have a profile set it will always slightly raise the seat after you switch off the car. With no individual profile set, the seat will stay where is was last set to.

Thanks for the info, will test and report...now to remember how to do that :)

I do not have profiles, and same problem. Does not say on lowest position.

Worked for me! No more adjusting seat every ride. Thanks a ton

I have only seen two Superb 280's in Adelaide, they are rare as hen's teeth.

The latest, two days a go, was a grey wagon on Grange Road and I looked twice, once because it looked so good and then a double-take that it was a brand new Superb. Looked as though its had been lowered. Is that a Sportline trait?

Well, finally took a photo - here's my 280 in the "wilds" of an Adelaide car park!...

Nice!

Is that the West Lakes roof carpark?

Nice job, but I'd be terrified of driving it down some of the 'traffic calmed' back streets around my way.

Hahaha yea I was sceptical  I’ve been down the seafront this weekend with the kids and the good lady in an no contact with any tarmac. And they were the speed humps that are like a house roof is poking out from under the road lol

So, this last week identified another "issue".

When you have the electric tailgate, is there any way of opening/closing it manually?  i.e. not powered?

1 - if you want to try out to see if something in the boot is going to fit without catching the glass/trim, it's useful to be able to lower the tailgate by hand.

2 - if you're in a car park with a low ceiling height, you don't want the tailgate just wazzing itself straight up!

Had to do some hanging on to stop the tailgate.  And also noticed if you try to pull it down it starts moving under its own steam.  Cue lots of beeping because I was stopping it.

FWIW (For What its worth) I hardly every interact with the touchscreen and always use the steering wheel controls for pretty much everything as I just usually plug my phone in and let Android Auto do the work

The only annoying thing about the central screen (mines a 65 plate so might have changed/updated) is

I am in Android Auto because I plug my phone in and it auto boots

I hit 'Car' for example to alter something

I then hit menu

As Android Auto was the last thing I was using why do I have to end up scrolling round the icon carousel to find it ?

It would be better if after you hit a shortcut button (apart from menu, obviously) it would be nice it had the last used 'app'/'function' just there to tap on and continue using

The throttle response is an age old debate and I have always toyed to either A, have it remapped to Audi's setting (heard its better) via a bit of coding or B, Fit a pedal box

If I want a sudden burst of power I nearly always knock the DSG into Sports mode until I get up to the required speed and then knock it back into Normal

It's not perfect but it does make the throttle a little bit more responsive  (mines a 190TDI SCR) so the 272 is probably a slightly different beast but it's interesting to hear it has the same dead top to the throttle

Other things to mention

When you have the electric tailgate, is there any way of opening/closing it manually?  i.e. not powered?

1 - if you want to try out to see if something in the boot is going to fit without catching the glass/trim, it's useful to be able to lower the tailgate by hand.

Answer - You can manually close the boot with your hand after a bit of force but I am always terrified to try this

2 - if you're in a car park with a low ceiling height, you don't want the tailgate just wazzing itself straight up!

Answer -

Option 1,  Touch the boot release above the number plate and when it's on it way up and you have got to the right height then tap the 'boot' button and it will stop in position. When you hit the boot button again it will then close

Option 2, Same as above but you can use the boot opening button on the key fob

Press and hold to open and then press it again when you want the boot to stop. Press and hold again and it will close as normal

Option 3, Press the boot release in the front console and then sit back and relax, until it hits something, for some reason you can't stop it from the inside like you can from the outside/key fob.. weird.com

If you always park in the same place with a low ceiling then you can always set the boot height to only go up a certain distance by opening the boot, pressing the button when you want it to stop and hold it until you hear a beep. The height is now set <<< this one maybe Key specific/profile specific I am not too sure
