Hi all, I’m having a new exhaust build possibly powerflow, and want some advice and pics if possible, do I go for full system or cat back or DPF back? 

 

Also so looking to achieve an AMG style exhaust tip look, not the ovals but the slanted flat twins. 

 

Any my advice and pics.

Powerflow are  poop! dont go anywhere near... i had a custom powerflow and it fell apart, i had to go back 6 times and it still wasnt right. I prefer stock tips, too many folk leave too much exhaust hanging out the back and it makes the car look cheap.
 

full stainless Friedrich Motorsport system, DPF from darkside and 3" downpipe.

there was no change in sound so i added this....it doesnt sound like a Diesel anymore!

My experience is quite different - I had a custom Powerflow duplex exhaust built and fitted to my other car (not a Skoda) in 2011 by the Powerflow agent in Totton (near Southampton) and have had absolutely no problems with it at all in the 8 years it's been in use.

 

Since the components that make the custom exhaust are welded together by the local installer I wonder if the problem is the stainless steel welding skill (or lack of?) of the local installer?

I agree, my understanding and experience is that the welds only don’t hold up well if the installer uses a mild steel rod to weld with, and that the box is not using a 304 grade stainless. 

 

Please correct me me if I’m wrong as I’m still very new to the world of modifying. 

 

 

If you get a good installer id get a few recommendations. I had a bad experience. Ideally you would want someone using TIG and not mig to build a stainless system as the welds are much cleaner.

about £700 fitted, the exhaust came from Germany (the other bits from darkside were much more expensive).

 

the active sound was around the £800 mark and i fitted it my self including fabricating the brackets. best mod ive done to date and i have it on full most of the time, turns a lot of heads.

I don't understand. I know nothing about these sound actuator things - surely it still sounds like a diesel at the front end?

yes but it sounds like a V6/V8 diesel 

 

diesels can sound good too....

I had a powerflow boxback fitted on my old i20. The backbox was great; no baffles and it was musical. The only problem were the mounts which were used. They were mild steel and rotted through within 12 months. The first time I knew of an issue was when I noticed the tip was hanging that little bit lower. I took it back to demon tweeks and they sorted it with no charge.

 

@JohnnyType2 did you get the sound box thingymajig from darkside? I've seen a few of their videos online and they're very knowledgeable.

yep thats what happened to me the mounts split the skin on the back box and the mess they made repairing it rather than replacing it was a joke.

I got the sound generator from kufatec in germany installed it myself (which was quite an involved process but worth it.

here's a Russian vRS 220 getting the Audi sound generator treatment.... the mods on this vehicle even surpass Trust2K, this guy has blown 5 figures at least on this car.

OEM Audi SQ5 TDI Eberspacher sound units fitted to each back box  (this is OEM) 

Ive fitted just one of these and you can here me coming
