We have just bought a yeti outdoor. We have have a small dog (mini schnauzer). Are there any hooks / seat belt combinations that are safe for tethering a dog in the boot?

 

We have a spare wheel false floor if that is relevant.

There are travel boxes, for smaller dogs, Amazon for instance do a Basics one at £17 or thereabouts.

Safer than a sudden yank from a restrained leash.

Tethering them is just asking for trouble in an accident
I have modified one of our old cages to fit behind the rear seats and when the rear hatch is closed it's going nowhere.

Even if the car turned over it would remain in place and be a lot safer than a tether for the dog and us.

I would add, if you do tether your dog hopefully you would use a harness and not just a collar.

 

It does depend how far you are going though, ie if just going down the road then it highly unlikely to matter, as opposed to travelling down the motorway, or just at generally higher speeds.

 

Barney used to have the back seat (no matter how much he wanted the front seat) and was tethered via the rear head restraints with a harness.

I have a seatbelt clip lanyard with a full body harness for my Jack Russell. Bought it from the local pet store.
