Hi does anyone no why the battery is mounted in the boot where the spare wheel is supposed to be? And can a spare wheel be mounted anywhere else? 

Some of the engine options (1.6? ) take up too much under bonnet space in such a narrow car so the battery is down the back instead.

So where can I put a spare wheel, I'm a taxi driver and cant carry a spare 

 

Could go defender style, and mount the spare on the bonnet?

 

May hurt fuel economy though, and a set of nice strong bonnet struts to help with opening/closing with the extra weight...

 

Audi A1 is the same, pointless can of gunk and a pump in the boot.... beyond hopeless when your 60+ yr old MIL gets a puncture that tears 5 holes in the tyre wall while getting to a safe stopping place...
