Do I have adaptive cruise control?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

As the title suggests. I picked up a 63plate (2014) Mk3 Octavia VRS TDI DSG yesterday.

It has a radar in the lower front grill & a warning pops up on the maxi dot to say when I'm too close to cars. On the drive home the car also applied its own brakes when it thought it was going to collide with an on coming car with a big warning on the maxidot.

I looked in the manual for instructions on how to use adaptive cruise control & the control stalk depicted in there is not mine. I have the ordinary cruise control stalk.

The car has parking assist so could the radar be for this instead?

Can anybody shed light on this please?

Thanks!

Scott

Looks like you have Front Assist and not Adaptive Cruise Control.

From the Manual:

The Front Assist (hereinafter referred to as system) warns you of the danger of
a collision with a vehicle or another obstacle in front of the vehicle, and tries to
avoid a collision or mitigate its consequences by automatically applying the
brakes where necessary

ACC has a dedicated control. Check the following video if you have it installed in your car:

Sounds like front assist. Adaptive cruise has a third stalk under the normal stalk on the left hand side of the wheel.

2 stalks only = no ACC.
