Michelin Tire Lettering

Featured Replies

Thought I'd share my updated RS245.

Got the tireletters from the US installed.  A bit rice but I always liked the look of it.

They were not as easy to install so I had to do some modifications and the quality is not as good as expected (though the rep down under is pretty great with handling the concerns).

They only come in one size for now.

Just cleaned the car, as well. 😃

Enjoy!

After all that preparation pity about the photo quality 🙁

Hopefully @gresini15 will upload some close up photos soon?

Will post a closer photo sooner, guys.  Apologies for that.

You can buy white tyre pens in Halfords and do it yourself.

I did it once, took ages, faded and wore off pretty quickly.

Wouldn't bother again.

I've still got one of those pens from when it was fashionable to do that. I also recall that the tyre lettering was probably more conducive to it happening.

Can louvres still be bought for the rear windows lol.

I used to do that in the 1970s/1980s when it was very fashionable, would I still do it now, no. Always seems to cheapen a motor when I see it nowadays, just my "old" opinion of course.

Not what I was expecting tbh. I imagined the white paint variety of lettering people have been mentioning.

The question is, have you stuck them to the factory Bridgestones or Dunlops? 😅

Hahaha @john999boy!  Speaking of!  We saw one on the road on an old Ford Falcon... and I said to my wife: 'Whatcha think of that in our Octavia?'  I got a face palm of her.  Hahaha!  Thinking I should stick one...

Closer photos required but they don't initially look too bad at all.

looks like you are ready for the track....

the Michelin plant was just up the road from me (its shutting this year for good)  they still make white lettering for the american market. I have bought a fair few VWs from the USA and the white walling was always on the inside, apparently the yanks dont like it much and turn the lettering/whitewall to the inside, personally i like whitewalls and lettering on the correct vehicles, old dubs and american muscle look great with white walls/ lettering.

I reckon it looks great on a white car.

I saw this quite a lot when i had my Jap show car, but upon speaking with owners that had done it with tyre pens they where having to redo it every 3-4 weeks. Mostly it was done on TOYO Proxies due to the big lettering.

I do have to agree i think it looks good on the white car and will be interesting to see how long it lasts compared to the tyre pens.

Hahaha yeah!  Ready to be a racer boy.

I thought they were a bit into it.  I got them from the US.

Thanks, @StealthRS245 @Ash007ks.  I have posted where I get my inspiration.  Planning to have some paint job done on the spoilers and the door handles.  I asked about the Raacingline wheels but they only came in 18s.

Not sure if it will last long.  Only time will tell.

@john999boy posting a closer pic for you.

Black and white checkered tape across the bonner and roof and whip aerials and fluffy dice are just so passé.

Haha all good, man!

I don't think I will go down that route, ever.  Just some black trims (paint the spoiler black and the door handles) ... maybe the dice and racing stripes?  Haha!
