fab vrs vs Laguna 2.2dci 150

Featured Replies

hi all just quick one to iron out some creases between me and a mate as we dont race, if you put the fabia vrs on the same track and raced it against a laguna  2.2 dci 150 which would have the edge (say same technical ability driver) as i think the furby would as its lighter but mate wont budge ( prob cause his car weighs to much lol) what you think? ps both cars completly standard

The Laguna would probably fall to bits before you had a definte result

why don't you do a track day to find out , but i would say the VRS would be quicker , just

Fantastic, someone else who thinks along my lines:rofl:

But he's got a point, Renault's are hideous:eek:

Would he buy an Austin Allegro JUST because it had a FULL leather interior???

On a sensible note though, and I am in no way technically minded (although I know from experience that Renaults/Peugeots ARE crap) the vRS would probably nick it.

Nice.... but what good is that when the engine dosen't work, or the steering wheel comes off in his hands, or the wheels fall off, etc.....

so are we agreed that based purely on the power to weight ratio would mean the furby would just pinch the lead and win??

thats if his car gets to the end:rofl:

I would have thought so, but I'm no expert.... Put it this way if I had one next to me at the traffic lights, or sat on my bumper on an A road or motorway, I'd fancy my chances.

EDIT: If nothing else, just think of the weight those 10,000 airbags would add

Higher up the speedo the laguna would take a lead over the vRS on a straight. Given the torque of the dci the weight differences between the two cars is less important. Lower down and probably through the mid range the vRS will be quicker, it has a shorter ratio gearbox for a start.

It will also be slightly better round the twisty stuff than the laguna.

So yeah on a track the vRS would be the quicker car, on the motorway I would say from 70mph the laguna would pull away from the fabia.

I work for renault as a technician and have obv driven a few 2.2 dci's and given the fact I own a furby vrs I think im in pretty good shape to compare.....the furby would take the win no probs..the 2.2 pulls well but it doesn't seem to have the urgency of the vrs. Plus as already mentioned, they're not exactly the most reliable car or the most inspiring. I have heard the 2007 laguna has more technology than a saab vigan fighter plane and a HUD on the windscreen tho..could be interesting.

my last car was a '99 megane 1.6 16v Sport nice car but bit soft in the twisty bits

all that extra technology to go wrong ,or customers coming in saying this and that dosn't work but they haven't read the manual to find out how it works , i feel sorry for you .
