Already sorted a couple of little jobs, no interior light.

The bulb was in the ashtray which was strange, when plugging it in it stays on constantly which is probably why someone removed it. A quick google reviled that the dimmer switch for the dash lights turns the interior light on when turned to max, how strange, gave it a go and voila it switched off, there’s a extra top bit to the roller switch which turns it on, ingenious if you knew about it lol

Second job was wiring an ignition live to the stereo as it stays on all the time, easy job, popped stereo out and found some random wires left dangling from the original stereo traced an ignition live to this. Someone had wired the yellow and red power for stereo together so no wonder it was on all the time, job done.

Next I removed the bench seat and added some silent coat to behind and under the seat, I’ve got some more on order for the front half, but also have some carpet coming for the front too.

i also want to get the rear bulkhead trimmed at some point. Also gave it a good clean inside

Love it, what a project!

older Vauxhall’s used to turn the interior light on when you pulled the headlight switch out (much like we do for the fog lights).

Cheers Ross, I did wonder why there was no switch for it lol. It’s abit different for sure, been getting so many good reactions to it, can’t wait to do some bits and pieces

Oh no I’ve still got the Fabia too :)

I'm well jealous!

Was in Florida last summer and everyone drives pickups around with no silencers.

Its a Florida truck funny enough, I love the states it’s my forth holiday out there this year :)

Nice, something different, is it any relation to the Syclone? Looks similar.

Never heard of that but a quick google and it does look similar, the Sierra was built as the same truck as a Chevy C/K1500 just different front grill and lights, apparently the gmc were slightly upmarket lol bottom trim Gmc’s We’re mid range Chevy spec etc

Few jobs for my day off tomorrow, coolant change. Silencer to fit and my legal plates have come :)

  • Author

Silencer in, has dropped it a nice 7-8 dB on idle. I’ll get the whole exhaust done in next couple of months so just needed to be a temp job. U clamps everywhere lol

Coolant replaced but again I’ll look at getting some bits for an overhaul, water pump, thermostat, new rad, expansion tank etc but that can wait.

And some new plates fitted,

I love the wheels :)

"She holds 128litres" and can make all of it go away on one trip to shops :D

its brilliant. And looks to be in surprisingly good shape for its age.

a little bit of me wants a pickup, but it would need to be something like that rather than a Hilux/L200 or whatever.. i got to drive a Ram 1500 Hemi once (also in florida incidentally , threes a theme here :D ) and it was savage, while only being a "baby" over there..

Certainly not a daily for me ha, I’m sure I’ll find some gremlins but touch wood she does look solid

Ordered some rubber bed paint to refresh the bed area. Just need to prep and sort a couple of little dings in the inner arch areas. Went for a little run last night, first time I’ve seen the lights :)

Started to prep the rear inner arches before I spray the bed, I managed to reduce a couple of the large dints and it looks pretty decent, a little fill and some flatting back and just gave it a quick spray over and it’s come up pretty well. The paint will hide the little imperfections as it’s proper bed paint so quite thick and textured too.
