2010 Fabia VRS New owner from sunny E.Sussex

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm Arran live down on the South Coast have recently purchased a 2010 Fabia VRS, yes i have read all the horror stories of my lovely CAVE engine but so far touch wood other than age related internal noised & dash cluster lights going down it has been a strong motor so far, full service history appears well looked after on the running side of things & not horrific mileage!! Will upload a pic when i get chance it is the funky bright green one!

Welcome to the forums Arran, be sure to check out the mk2 fabia forums as there's plenty of info & guidance in there. As I've also got a green mk2 vRS I've gotta say you've got good colour choice :D

Cheers Jamie, i will have a good look that's for sure handy to have help & advice, nice to hear it no point being boring go for the colour that stands old, bold ! Just considering a Stage 1 remap myself being given lots of mixed advice from different remapers

Yeah remapping is something I've been considering but there's not many companies that I'd let near the 1.4 twincharger with a barge pole. I've been eyeing up APR as I know a few members have got that on here and are happy with it

Worth considering, the place I have been to visit seem good won't do remap until have fully tested motor & then test after, they are quite well established have a big workshop & a very tasty 800bhp GTR that the owner has, seem the most knowledgeable company i have spoken to so far & constantly busy for remaps & mods.

My body works a bit tatty but nothing to bad got a set of new style badges to fit & really want a wheel refurb at some point, think this is my early mid life crisis motor bringing back the boy racer in may even though im almost 40 :D

Welcome.

I seriously suggest you run the car for a few months, have the plugs changed if needed, see that all is well with oil use and not excessive.

If the water pump has not been changed budget for that.

Get used to the car, run it on Tesco Momentum 99 (or Shell V-Power Nitro + if you must. or 97 ron Super Unleaded.)

Getting it on a Dyno might be an idea and see what it does have power wise, and maybe there is a remap on it already.

Check and see if the Service Campaign was done on the DSG. '34F7', there should be a sticker in the boot if done already.

Cheers for the advice had the car almost 3months now done about 3.5k so far no signs of oil loss.

So far engine & gearbox happy to pull like a freight train, smooth shifting in all modes.

I have only been using Momentum since having the motor so that's all good.

With the gearbox recall/fix not too sure Skoda UK have said nothing is outstanding on my vehicle although I have no written proof only first 5 main dealer stamps, have looked in boot only sticker I can see is in spare wheel well listing all the numbers ie engine, paint code etc?

Cheers
