Why the heck would you remove particle filter???

To remove restrictions to the exhaust flow

If you remove the PF then you'll fail the MOT as, as far as I'm aware, if your vehicle comes fitted from factory with it, it'll be tested / checked.  Also, it'll throw a code as the vehicle does look for it - it'd need to be programmed out.

BUT, I see you have a 280 Sportline - I'm guessing this is petrol?  If so, then possibly not a DPF (or petrol equivalent).

As ever, someone with vastly more knowledge than I do will be along to correct and scald me for giving duff info :D

Why would you want to do this ? Want more power ? Just get it mapped.

Would get more power from a map if there is lest restrictions from the exhaust

So you are going to get a remap ? I'm also considering this now what research have you done ? Makes sense to get to the bottom of that first before thinking about the exhaust.

The exhaust in the 280PS is a valved exhaust. When you switch to sport, it opens the second path and bypasses, and that's how you get the change in exhaust note - it's not purely up to the revs increasing at idle. I think the 272PS has a slightly different exhaust setup, but I'm pretty sure the same principal applies. aka: You bypass that anyway when you want/need to.

However, it's you're referring to the new GPF on the 272PS, then I'm not sure what the situation is there.

Does that mean the 272 doesn't have the valves ?

These things that you call "restrictions" are for environment safety... Unless its causing issues with standard setup removing stuff from your car is pretty stupid idea... Logical wise... These things are influencing the way engine runs so a map could get it done, but there might be more changes to the car that could get influenced by the removal. As there is probably warranty for the car, these changes will also probably void warranty.

Your emissions will also go up, which will probably get you to fail at MOT...

😀 I think the 272 buyers have been ripped-off a bit!

It was one of the first things I checked when I got my 280 a couple of months ago - and was very relieved to see it still had the quad exhaust set up.

Unless you're swapping the turbo out for a stage 3, then removing the cat converter and/or GPF is absolutely frivolous. Most downpipes for MQB cars have cat converters anyways. Stupid idea.

Yeah mind you that's a perfectly adequate setup for the less powerful car..... 😉

Not all 272's are like that

I've got the GPF and the quad tips (ooh er!)

From what others have said, the first batch of 272's had the valved exhaust. The next, and subsequent ones, do not unfortunately.  Not that it would bother me either way to be honest!
