Mk2 Octavia vRS Estate

Featured Replies

I’m putting out some feelers about selling my car.  It’s a 2007 petrol vRS in Race Blue with 108k miles on the clock.

We’ve had the car for over three years and it’s been the most reliable vehicle we’ve ever owned.  The reason I’m thinking of selling is that our three children won’t stop growing and for some reason we bought a dog that will also be quite big when fully grown.  I need a Transit crew cab or similar to transport everyone around & even the thought selling the car is killing me.

Since buying the car in April 2016, it’s been well looked after.  I know most people say that but it really has been my pride and joy. It had a custom made turbo back exhaust from Tony Banks in Leeds before being taken to RS Tuning for a custom Stage 1 map.  Depending on the rollers you put the car on it produces between 250 and 260hp.  This is a lovely map and has been totally reliable since day one.

The car has also been lowered on the correct Eibach springs for the estate and it really helped firm up the ride and make the car handle correctly.  There’s a Whiteline RARB on, which again improved the handling.  As well as the springs all round, it’s also had new rear shocks, bearings and dust guards on the rear as I wanted to make sure that when the family was in with all our stuff, the rear end didn’t sag.  It’s quite capable of taking all five of us and our stuff across Europe with ease whilst returning over 40mpg.  In fact, it’s been round the Arc de Triomphe and survived to tell the tale.

I’ve had the car serviced regularly at my local garage where they treat customer’s car like their own.  It has just had a full service with new plugs, filters, front discs & pads.  Each service they strip the brakes and give them a some TLC as well as check the car over for anything that might need looking at in the future.  At the moment it’s in good health and doesn’t need anything doing.

The interior is from a Seat Leon FR.  The original Skoda seats always annoyed me and were not supportive in the slightest.  I sourced a good interior and it fitted straight in.  There’s no daft white material to keep clean, they are way more comfortable and I took a lot of time finding a set that doesn’t say FR on them so that they don’t look odd.  The original seats were sold and ended up in an Octavia Scout so they won’t come with the car.  I’m sure that once you’ve sat in them, you’ll be convinced that it was a good move.  The airbag connectors on the front seats were identical so they were a simple plug & play install.

The bodywork is in pretty good fettle.  The only mark I would say that needs pointing out (other than the age related stone chips) is a slight scuff on the front nearside bumper.  There is a story attached to this involving an aggressive nun and a lady vicar that would take up too much space here so I won’t bore you with it.  It’s been touched up with the genuine Skoda kit and doesn’t bother me at all.

The wheels are 18” Fox Racing MS006.  They are a lot lighter than the OEM Skoda wheels and have been on the car for a while.  The tyres are all Uniroyal Rainsport 3 and have plenty of tread left.  They put the power down well and I find them a nicely predictable tyre in all conditions.  The original 17” Zenith wheels will come with the car complete with a set of winter tyres on.

As I said, this car was meant to be a keeper and took a lot of finding.  If I could fit everyone in it’d be staying as it’s reliable, fast and lovely to drive.  It’s my own fault seeing as I agreed to have a third child and was then convinced to buy a black Labrador.

We’re located in Scarborough, North Yorkshire.  You are welcome to message me with any questions and if you come to look at the car you can look through the receipts and full service history.  I’ve spent well over £3k on the car as I like them to be spot on.

I am asking for offers in the region of £3850 including the winter tyres.

Hope this is enough info for now and I’ll check in daily to answer any questions.

Cheers,

Andrew.

Those wheels look smart. Glws

Thanks.  They look even better in the metal and have helped the handling due to being a few kg lighter.

As for the sale, it pains me to be doing this but unfortunately the three kids are getting too big to be squashed across the rear.  The added bulk of a dog also adds to the need for something even bigger.

I know the feeling, as I was gutted to get rid of my Abarth but like you I needed something more practical.

I forgot to add that the original springs will come with the car in case the new owner wants to revert to the original ride height.  There's a photo underneath of before and after the springs were swapped.

I also fitted an Audi TT short shifter.  This made a noticeable difference to the throw of the gear stick and is one of those fairly cheap but effective mods that makes life a bit better.:)

The car is going on Ebay this evening.  When the advert goes live, I'll add the link in case anyone is interested.

We've found a van that looks like it might be suitable so if anyone is thinking of making an offer, get in touch as I'm happy to negotiate.:)

Sympathies - this year I had to shift my BRILLIANT Fabia when child #3 + Greyhound came along

Good to hear!

If you don't mind a rude question, did you get anywhere near your asking price?
