Boot floor question

Featured Replies

I will be picking up my Karoq on Friday. It has no spare wheel so the boot floor is about 6” below the edge of the boot.Is there any way to raise it up safely and permanently as I will need to keep the crate for my dog to travel in? As it stands I can fit the crate in but cannot open/close the crate door.I have made up a platform of old wood and square drainpipes that I had lying around but it is not pretty.I believe I can purchase a floor from Skoda but the price puts me off.

You could cut and or glue some polystyrene / Kingspan into blocks to sit the existing floor onto?

Thats sounds good.I will have to use the contraption I already have and then after Friday assess what I can do.

If you had ordered the spare wheel that would of raised the floor

I don't remember the salesman mention that as an option,or the price.

When I had my Yeti I had the spare wheel option retrofitted, I lost some depth to the boot but it was worth it. After a side wall blowout due to road debris on the M32 last year in my Fabia with spare wheel I'd be very unlikely to use a car without a spare wheel. Needless to say that my Karoq had that option fitted. The floor is nearly level with the boot opening so you still loose some boot depth with this option. There are some small storage around around the spare though.

Check the price of a retrofit spare wheel? A good dealer may fit it for the cost of parts only as was the case with my Yeti back in 2012.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but never rely on a salesman. You can build your own Karoq here, and view all the available factory fit versions...

What has the dealer quoted you for the retrofit? Plenty of options out there, here is one for less than £75...

Does this actually raise the boot floor though? Doesn't look like it reading this thread...

I have retro fitted a full size spare wheel to my 1.5TSI SEL but it still leaves the floor about 2 inches below the edge of the boot. I bought the wheel from ebay, put a full sized tyre on it and bought the polystyrene blocks that go either side of the wheel from my Dealer (approx £40 each side). I already had the tool kit from the space saver spare wheel that I ordered with the car.

I unfastened the boot floor from its fixings under the back seats and just laid it on top.

Having just bought a 69 plate Karoq Scout that was pre registered with 18 miles recorded and included heated windscreen, heated steering wheel and adaptive cruise control for under £25K it seemed a bit of a bargain but as there is no spare wheel I have managed to get a new space saver wheel for £35 and the Skoda 4WD wheel kit for £95 but is seems that as the existing boot floor is only basically carpet a replacement hard boot floor to raise the floor level is required - is that correct as the kit consists of:

Set contents: Left-hand polystyrene box, right-hand polystyrene box, polystyrene spacer, plastic nuts, fastening bolt with knob, luggage compartment floor pin, BOOT MAT, car jack, car jack crank handle, wheel brace, fitting instructions.

It states "boot mat" so is that the new floor?

The Skoda parts guy didn`t have an answer.

For Kodiaq Mat has hardboard underneath.. is about £100 - so I guess should have the board

The kit is £95 from a Skoda dealer (only £68 from Czech Republic) so if it includes the floor as well then that is cheap but it says its a mat which means carpet to me - all very confusing!

sorry - I should have said - the Kodiaq kit - including the mat - similar to your photo - has hardboard under mat..
