Chugging noise when idle

Featured Replies

My 2005 Fabia has been making a chugging noise when we're at a standstill and the emissions management light has come on. It's been running fine otherwise, no issues when on the move, just this slight juddering when idle. Any thoughts?

My mechanic is chocka and can't take a look till Monday....

Just reported your post as being in the wrong forum. Hopefully that will result in it being moved to the mk1 fabia subforum.

Telling us which engine your car has would be a help. :)

Doh, flattering myself I have a better car than I do! It's a 1.4l engine. Thanks 🙂

Without the 'hopefully' I think my sentence would have sounded a bit presumptuous.

Newer doesn't always mean better. :)

1.4 MPI or 1.4 16-valve?

16V.

Ambiente (if that makes any difference)

Possible misfire caused by a failing coil pack is common on these engines.
