I have a 2010 Octavia wagon with 1.4 TSI engine petrol. The car now has 129tkm on the odometer and I am currently experiencing strange sounds from the motor. After looking several videos on the matter and reading forums, I suspect the timing chain and tensioners. This is because the high pitched ticking comes from the fuel pump and is said to be normal. The lower rattling most likely comes from the chain before the oil pressure builds up. This should normally take 1-2 seconds to disappear but in my case it takes longer and I am a little worried.

 

The chain has been replaces 4,5 years ago at 69.600km. Therefore it has taken roughly the same time to wear again. The funny thing is that dealership says there is no warranty/goodwill whatsoever because the chain replacement has been done according to current instruction before. Then they changed only the chain and tensioners. Upper wheels (rotors) or the lower rotors and chain have not been touched. Currently the instructions are to change everything because usually the rotors wear with the belt and cause problems later if not changed.

What do you guys think might be the problem? Or is there any? The car is going to maintenance on Monday for chain measurement and possible replacement.
