How long do your brake pads last?

Featured Replies

I've picked up my vRS TSI DSG, in March of 2018. Up until now, I've had front pads changed at 13,000 miles and now both front and rear pads need replacement at 26,000 miles. Front rotors are also worn, about 1,2 mm on the outside, rear rotors are just fine.

This really seems like excessive wear, especially considering that I did no track driving. My driving style is probably a bit more aggressive than average motorist and also about 70% of miles are city miles.

Is there a chance that I'm missing something?

On my Mk3 Pre-FL they lasted 38K miles and were nowhere near done. On my current Mk3 FL, I’m at 22K and they seem to be wearing the same.

Pop a photo up for we can see.

The disc (rotor) wear measurement makes no sense either,

It all depends on how you drive & how often you use them.

What was your experience from previous cars?

Maybe worth popping into another garage (even halfords or quickfit) & asking them to check the pads & discs to give you an idea if the measurements you've been given are accurate.

Never had this kind of problem on previous cars. Will post pics and updates.

On my 2016 VRS I've just had the front pads changed for the first time at 70,000 miles as they were 75% worn.

I have an 2010 octy L & K i bought from a dealer, they fitted new pad and discs to it (bought just over 2 years ago and done 20,000 miles) and the brakes are still like brand new and my driving is mostly city driving and very hilly.
