Hi Guys.

Im new to this and wondered if someone could help/ advise.

End April this year had my timing belt and water pump fitted (5 year interval/ c 55 k miles) on my Octavia 2014 DSG 1.6 diesel. Ironically I only did this because I’m thinking of selling it once I’ve moved house and wanted everything up to date. I’d had it confirmed by Skoda Sweden that ‘Skoda recommend the intervals (irrespective of the time frames involved)to change the timing belt at 210000 km’).

I noticed yesterday the coolant level was down to the minimum mark after 6 mile journey. This morning it’s dropped another 6-8 mm. if I remember correctly when it was done back in April this year it was actually just over the maximum mark!? The warning light is not coming on when I switch on the ignition. Since changing the belt I’ve done 6000 miles , so I’m assuming the pump was fitted correctly.

I’m a bit concerned. The chap I use was recommended  to me and I’ve used him several times. He’s not a main dealer obviously but I think he’s as straight as they come, and I trust him.

Having read other bloggs it appears it’s a failed water pump?

I could take the car to a main dealer?

I could take it back to chap who fitted it?

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Phil

My error above.

Since changing the belt and pump I’ve done around 2-3 k miles.
