Puzzling Noise

Featured Replies

This noise has been bugging me for a couple of weeks, it's comming from the passenger footwell under the dash and sounds like an "animal scratching" it's there from cold with the Climatronic off/on and even when stationary. I have read that the ABS module is mounted somewhere around there, but that shouldn't be doing anything when not being used.

any thoughts greatly recieved.

 .

handbrake button ?

Sure it isnt just the glovebox or panel coming loose and just needs a tighten with a screwdriver?

check there is not a small mouse in the cabin air intake vent in the pasenger footwell. I had a ticking noise from there a while back. it disappeared when the mouse moved out....

but seriously, I figured it was a bit of leaf or debry stuck in the air vents somewhere which was being hit by a fan drawing in the air from the cabin.

Could this be a problem with the Climate Control? I get a noise from around the glove box. It sounds like the climate control has indigestion... gurgling noises.

Hey Blanchie, I've got exactly the same noise on my vRS. Only noticed it a couple of weeks ago late at night with the radio off (doesn't happen often).

Let me know if you find out what it is as I can't work it out and it is beginning to bug me too

Sounds like a flap motor to me.

I have the same knocking/scratching noise and loads of gurgling noises, i figured it was normal, but will have it looked at when the car is in next

A leaf in the heater fan?, have you disturbed the pollen filter recently, it has been known for debris to fall in.

i have the same noise on mine. i have noticed that if u hit the recirculate button the noise stops, i'm also guessing its a flap motor but i get no fault codes????

Ditto on mine, comes from the passenger footwell, I would agree with the recirc damper as it cures the noise if you poke the button a few times.

It sounds like the climatronic doesnt know exactly what the flap position is and its motoring when shut/fully open.

Thanks for the help Guys:thumbup: , Looks like my noise is the reserc damper as well, hitting reserc keeps it all quiet....peace at last:) :) :)

Cheers.
