Hello from Suffolk!

Featured Replies

Have just joined the forum, having dipped in a few times when looking for maintenance advice for my 2007 2.0 TDi 140 estate (BKD), and thought it about time I signed up.

My wife and I count ourselves environmentalists and conservationists first and foremost, but my guilty secret is that I've enjoyed driving and working on cars, vans and bikes, since I was 17, and I'm 60 now. I do nearly all my own maintenance, and always have done.

We've had a huge range of vehicles in that time, quite a few of which were nice driver's cars (but nothing too powerful/ thirsty, of course). Among my favourites are a Saab 900 turbo and a Gold Cloverleaf Alfetta (last Alfetta they made, with the long-running, beautiful Alfa twin overhead cam engine and rear-mounted gearbox and inboard disks, for balance).

We've also had a number of VWs, though, and I have to say the Skoda is a great car in nearly all respects. Personally, I've always found the front end a bit geeky (sorry!), and it's been giving me a bit of grief recently, with erratic running (just about to post about that), but it's nice to drive, powerful, economical, great for towing, well built.........well, most of you know all this!

My wife has a Citigo (also a great car), and I also currently run a Kawasaki Ninja 400, which is a brilliant bike.

Anyway, hope you're all enjoying your summer, and looking forward to some interesting chats on here...

Cheers

A warm welcome to the Forum KimT !  I loved my bikes but think those days are now behind me at 78🤣

Probably should be behind me too. A bright green Ninja seems entirely the wrong bike for a 60 yr old grandad, but its just so light and well-mannered...

Thanks for the warm welcome!

You're never too old to enjoy riding your bike; friend of mine is 90+ and still riding.

Well that's inspired me to carry on, StickyMicky. I get more wary of picking up an injury as I get older, but I'm convinced biking can remain fun if you pick the right bike. Compact and light suits me fine these days.

I think I'll stick to having some tin around me🤣
