ARB - Now its gone

Featured Replies

Well, whilst driving irresponsibly on the highway last night, I did my usual trick (in the Fabia I might add) of negotiating a particular roundabout, with what can only be described as full commitment. Now, normally, with Jabba's fine arb in place, my technique was to throw it in very fast and hard, then back off the throttle, and "drift" around a third of the roundabout, before reapplying the gas, and exiting in a smooth, predictable, slightly exciting, and brisk fashion.

I forgot that my arb has long gone.

So, usual tactic, throw into roundabout, hmmm, understeer, hmm, back off, hmm, 90 degrees to roundabout. Oops, opposite lock, full opposite lock with foot in carpet. Exit roundabout remembering that Tom now has my/his arb.

Jolly entertaining though.

So, in summary, it really did make a huge change to the car's handling, much more apparent now it's gone.

Whats the plans then for the silver beast (the smaller one :D)

I'm torn Jason. Does it stay or does it go? It's so much fun. Guy came out "for my doors" last night in a (im almost embarrased to say) really nice white saxo vts, that was LAD motorsport fettled to circa 160 bhp. Also wanting my doors was a 182 Clio.

Now, as hard as this is to believe, all they saw on three occasions, was my back door. (Not MY back door clearly).

Clio was pulling it back though at the higher end of the *cough national speed limit, and given a longer road, would certainly have passed me.

Saxo boy was truly amazed, as he seemed quite confident of victory.

Kind of makes me want to keep it, just for the fun/excitement/cheap night out racing at 40 mpg factors.

You can have your cake and eat it!!

Can't help but feeling slightly guilty... Roll on Thurdsay!!!

Only joking. I don't regret selling it mate, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I'll just have to adapt my roundabout technique slightly

Cheers Dave.

You wouldn't recognise it now though ;) I may get my camera out to tease you all. :P

I just hope he doesn't go for the beautifully striped look on the back of his Furby :P :P :P (yep I spotted the date ;))

LAD motorsport

They also tune the Clio 172/182 to 200 bhp with just an exhaust/induction kit,99.9% of ClioSporters are very firm believers they actually produce no more than a stock 172/182 would.

You need a lot more than just and exhaust/induction to get 200 bhp from a 172/182.

Hey Shifty, great fish and chips! I did pop in the other night (Thursday last week) and said thanks to the guy (with the tatooed forearms) behind the counter for the directions to your shop - it wasn't you, as when I mentioned Briskoda he said 'oh, thats the other guy'

Didn't realise you had two skodas, I did notice the Octy but didn't realise that was yours too!

Thanks again, t'was a nice meal I ate on the seafront c/o Taylors :)
