Prefix: Not looking to turn this into a sales ad ( as I'm definitely not selling yet anyway it was more just interest) against Freedom policy ( as I'm not Freedom at the moment)

So I'm looking just for a ball park in case I might decide to ad later ( which might do on forums here).

I'm just not doing the miles and may weight up other ( more sporty) options perhaps, or just a change (perhaps superb 280).

I don't know right now but just kind of conscious I don't really do quite so many miles, as I have the Fabia 1 too, but might realise actually I'm being silly and need to rationalise and rid the Fabia. But its still enoyable ( whilst diesel owners have yet to be shot on sight just yet)

I'm just conscious of everything going battery/hybrid and literally doing no miles it might be wise to "downgrade" temporarily so I have cash not wrapped up in an expensive car, I know next year was meant to be MG's supercar battery car for instance circa 30k ( but wouldnt hold my breath and also wouldnt really aim to be early adopter and a used buy would probably be more prudent).

But anyway - Anyone got any guidance for a free accurate way to value my petrol O3? Any websites ? I used to be aware of some but they seemed to disappear and all the ones now lead you into thinking you can get value but then ask for payment
Or okay if I put some basic details on here ( or if someone can give me a rought value by PM)
Cheers

  • Worth remembering that the value anywhere online gives you should be taken with a large pinch of salt, especially WBAC. Personal experience has shown me that they rarely get anywhere near the Internet

  • They are a huge highly funded financial organisation that really in the end HMRC will need to deal with. It is Pyramid Selling and Financing and the 'Online Price Guides' are all part of the chea

  • Haha, @teescom09, do you work for WBAC? 🤣

Actually I managed to get something from Parkers and it suggests < £9k ! In that case, I'll be keeping the car

Sadly 2nd cars ain't worth Jack, that's why more & more people are pcp or pch ing their new cars, who's gonna drop 10k without a warranty?

Ah perhaps but aftermarket warranties are quite easy to get nowadays for piece of mind

And worth just about as much as the paper they're written on...

Go to Autotrader, click on ‘sell’, put in your reg and mileage and they will suggest a selling price.  Shouldn’t be too far off the value in my experience.

Obviously, if in mint condition, you might get a little more.

Our obsession with the cars  we desire costs us a bundle. It's what the vehicle manufacturers depend on.

Sooooooo true!!

But it's all relative because the car you're buying should be discounted.  It's never been any different - if you buy at top price and sell at low price then not good.

Awkward situation at the moment due to lack of models but what VRS do you drive? how old / how many miles? How does that compare to a brand new 245 VRS DSG which you can buy for £22k?

We buy any car is the most accurate way   to value it. Takes 1 minute, not heard the adds???  Thats British Car Auctions, they know what its worth. But, take off £50 per dent/under paint scratch/windscreen or manky interior. and £37 per badly damaged alloy.

My 2016 VRS 230 estate pfl was £10400. March 16, 48000

Doesn’t make any difference whatsoever what you put your car in for, it’s value is the same. Apart from you usually  find your own main dealers price is the worst by far. Think they have you if your mug enough. Do it all through carwow and WBAC before you go to a dealers, always! If leasing get your prices via what car leasing before you go to dealers.

Bloody hell thats cheap  !! how many miles though, I bet it was a few/more than mine.

Mines just over 57K, Pretty clean all round (Gemini alloys were refurbed painted but paintworks pretty good all round in Black tho need to give a detail prior selling).

Canton

Satnav ( amundsen)
Full heated leather (tbh haven't wired in the heated part yet)
mapped to Oscarli 300+

48000, thats the trade price, 40% original value after 3 years 3 months. Thats good, most cars and nearly all other  Skodas are around 35% at that age and mileage.

Probably retail at around £12950

48000 I'll take it :D

The 230 has heated full leather memory seats/mirrors, fancy diff and quite a bit more standard. Extras make little difference, most are money totally down the drain.

I didn’t, it’s gone!

Your tune might make  it difficult to sell unfortunately. You would be better off putting the car back to standard. Very few people want a car that’s been modified.  Not so bad old, but not relatively new.

Don’t know if you can still get a 280 Superb either. I though that version was binned.

Probably 2nd hand

Get a A6 quattro, million times better and not bad prices. 3.0 V6 is a peach and I hate diesels, but not that one.

Diesel, never. I have on my old Fabia but thats it.

Removing the map thats possible, I'm sure Alastair at Oscarli would do that for me if necessary, but equally though you might find someone is looking for the full power of the car, I know I was so wouldn't rush to do this
Thats the only thing changed as simple software change so describing in the same way as a highly modified car is pushing it ( other than improved dogbone support which just basically sits in place on the mount). Its just a stage 1 map and almost everyone does it on their petrols I've spoken to !
Its also been in place for merely a few K and driven sensibly by an older chap myself so hard pushed to argue this as wearing down the car either...

I had a look on ebay and tbh there isnt much to compare it with, the petrols are quite limited.
The 2 nearest are one that has moon miles ( to anyone buying) compared to mine, 105k so they have the price dropped to £7k

But then the next after that is a little less miles, same year, trade ad for nearly £12k. That makes me wonder that selling IRO £10k might not be unreasonable for a good clean working car.

Also looked at Autotrader etc, not much in that region, some cat D/S type cars

One with nearly 20k more than mine but trader for £9500

I'd have to find the car opportunity before I could do anything so I'm far from convinced of losing the car yet, just thinking it might be wise to start thinking towards the hybrid market and due to my availability of other cars I'm not relying on it so perhaps might be best to convert back to cash now ?

I don't suppose it would hurt for me to start detailing the car, join freedom and put up an ad and see.

Do a WBAC ! That is its value (standard) at best. Retail adds mean nothing. Most cars are not modified, probably very few. Yes you might find someone wanting a tune but makes it more difficult all round. That’s the choice you make. I stick to bluefin, cannot go wrong.

I know what WBAC is, its a derisory offer thats usally far less than even what you would get private as all I hear is people complain of that. Some of their responses have been comedic.
So I won't waste my time but thanks

No it isn’t. It is the highest offer nearly all of the time, it’s just they will reduce it if there is damage. My Galaxy is 3250 from WBAC, Ford dealers offered between 2000-2500 !!!
