Kodiaq 150PS vs 190PS 4x4 DSG - Opinions & alternative options such as performance chips?

Featured Replies

Everyone's "fully loaded" is different 😉

For information: our 190TDi doing 2200 miles across France this summer with 6 people, roof box, 1 bike on the roof, 4 bikes on the tow bar: resulted in 36MPG at French speed limits. Going up 8% motorway grades I was glad of 190BHP (and more importantly how it is delivered). Doing 1500 miles across France, Belgium and Holland this summer with 4 people, boot packed to the ceiling but nothing on the roof, and 4 bikes on the tow bar resulted: in 41MPG.

My guesstimate is that 4x4 costs us up to 8MPG and a Haldex oil change every 2 or 3 years or so. I wouldn't have paid extra for it given the choice, but I don't miss torque steer and wheel spin now that I have it.

Anything you order now will be MY 2020 spec (Skoda changes model years after their summer break in August). So - waiting does not get you a different spec unless you wait until this time next year, when they switch to MY 2021.

There will be a pricing issue right now in that the dealer doesn't know exactly what this MY 2020 Kodiaq Sportline will cost and what may be added or removed from the 2019 specifications. You can place an order but the price may go up (likely) or down (unlikely). If you know you are going to buy and order this car no matter what they do price wise then order it now, its already going to be next year before you see it (assuming the 26 week lead time for an order here in Ireland is correct).

From what I can see, our Irish Skoda dealers aren't motivated to go any distance for you on Kodiaqs  - they seem able to sell any stock that comes in at more than list price anyways.

Thanks for this and others for replies Armed with the extra info I rang the garage but was told there is a blank order ban due to WLPT. thinks 4-6 weeks before can order a new build. If 26 weeks cant be improved upon this pushes my delivery to mid April 2020 earliest 8 months from choosing spec now! Does this make sense. Id be willing to put a deposit down and pay some additional amount to have jan delivery even if price jumps but not in the 1000s range. But blanket order bar meams can’t even take price risk

Is this ban on all variants or just this 1?

Have you looked at a Tarraco? Lots in stock i think SEAT shipped over a lot due to Brexit prep , some good discounts to be had

The OP is over here in Ireland so the situation is a bit different - we don't get the discounting you guys in the UK can swing.

They are offering 0% financing and 3 years servicing on the Tarraco. Skoda wants 2.9% with the same free servicing for 3 years.

Bottom line here seems to be that the Tarraco is either around €3K cheaper for an equivalent spec - or you could say you get more toys for similar money (if comparing "Excellence" to the equivalent Skoda trim level).  For example, all the Tacos come with LED lights and digital cockpit as standard - the Skodas don't.

Seat also have the 2.0 190hp petrol available as well as the 1.5, if you want petrol but want a bit more ooomph.    Skoda only do the 1.5 Tsi here.

(Skoda also don't want or need to try too hard, there are too many idiots stumping up because they "gotta have one now". A 6 month old Sportline 150 Tdi DSG in "super rare" steel grey (our free colour, FFS!) and 7000 miles on the clock is only €900 (or £835 STG) off full list price. It gets better though - they will want another €2000 or so if you are trading in.....the "offer" is straight deal only)

oops my bad

If Built and can be transported they will be getting Pre-registered.

If MY19 production went well but sales never there will not be a shortage for SEAT to get punted.

10k off for a brand new 190 TDI DSG xcellence first edition I saw the other day. Would have bitten hand off but too late for me

I'm pretty sure we wouldn't be driving a Kodiaq either if that deal had been around when we were buying. We got a discount, but not that big.

That must be close on 8 or 10 K discount for a Prereg...

Just saw  the other day the body is fully covered underneath the Tarraco.

In the Kodiaq do you you have to pay extra for the "Rough Road Package" to get full cover?

Yes unless you get a Scout

Hello

I have Kodiaq 2.0 150hp 4x4 DSG7 chiptuning to 185hp. I have close 3500km in Europe full charged with 7% fuel consumption average. Performance was well. Some lake on DSG but i prefer to drive with Sport mode.

Just come back from France where we did 1300 miles in a couple of weeks. We have the 190 version and with the car being fully laden it was a breeze. With the 150 I test drove previously I could see we would have struggled.

Happy with the 43mpg with a boot fully loaded and 4 of us onboard.

How much did it cost you fuel wise for the whole journey? £ wise instead of mpg
