vRS Insurance

Featured Replies

Well it's that time of year again. The dreaded insurance is up for renewal. I would appreciate some imput from the modified vRS brethren in this matter, as the insurance quotes i have recieved vary drastically.

Any one know where i can get a Perodue Kelisa from.

Delcac I found a company called Adrian Flux (08700 765450) to be the best with all the mods I had done to my RS. They only charged me

Perodua (or however you spell 'em) - there's a dealer in my village! - Brabourne Lees just outside Kent.

Assuming you are not taking the m*****l, Des, and I'm pretty sure you are, if you can't get reasonable insurance for your RS then you can get a Perodua from one of these dealers in the SE:

Have you tried the insurers and quotelines that I put into our web links yesterday? More links will follow, but I didn't want to fill the Selection of Links section with insurance companies. (I also have an aversion to High Streets full of estate agents, building societies, mobile phone shops and charity shops).

I have just had a look at the Kelisa. Des, you would definitely get 2, and maybe even 3, in PE for your RS, and a hefty rebate from your insurer even though your policy is just about up.

oops... Brabourne is just outside Ashford, not 'just outside Kent' - doh!

Here's something interesting; particularly for those who are about to renew their insurance.

The following link takes you to a site where the insurance companies bid for your custom. Bizzare but true.

Check it out. If anyone tries it out let us know how you got on.

Cheers.

Companies House records show that bid4mybusiness is a Public Limited Company incorporated on 16/12/99. The nature of the business is listed as 7260 - Other computer related activities, and the accounts have been filed on time. We live and learn!

The principle behind bid4mybusiness is that customers:

"1. Complete a smart form for each personal/household insurance requirement (and never do it again!)

2. Receive competing bids for their 'business' (at the right time)

3. Pick from the widest possible range of reputable insurers and brokers (not a limited panel)

4. Complete payment of the premium on-line or off-line

5. bid4mybusiness repeats the process for customers next year (using the same smart form)"

I'm not sure that I would want to put all my insurance business into one big basket, and how on earth does one declare everything a range of insurers want to know on just the one form, but maybe Des would like to be the Briskoda guinea pig? (Shades of animal farm again).

A word of advice. Visit the sites and get an idea of the price, then phone them. In my experience the phone quote is usually cheaper. I just use the online quotations for filtering out the more expensive companies.

That'll be it then :(

Re: my earlier post regarding online/telephone quotes, when I visit Direct Line's web site for a quote (fully comp., 7 years NCD, me driving, protected no claims and legal cover) it comes out at about

Direct Line were the cheapest for me when I renewed last year , cost me

Firstly, top tips. Don't forget TESCO - they're not so picky on the performance cars and tend to give low(ish) quotes.

A mate of mine had a great quote for his scooby from Admiral, when he rang back 2 months later to get the deal, he was told that all the 'slots' were filled for performance cars so his quote was now assessed as a measure of risk (ie double). Make of this what you will, I know Colin got a good deal @ Direct Line, doesn't mean everyone will tho'. Anyone else heard of this 'slot' mularkee?

IIRC Tesco's insurance (mototr) is backed of to Direct Line so quotes from the two should be similar. Best quote last year for my ALfa was from NPower !!, it's brokered by them but is actually an Norwich Union policy.
