Wing Mirrors not turning in when locking car

Featured Replies

Superb mk II 2014 Elegance 4x4 diesel automatic estate. This morning when locking car the wing mirrors have stopped turning in. Tried using hardly used spare key but no difference.

Probably a simple answer, but I don't know.

Your advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

To "@BobH38" - When you lock the Car with key - press the lock button and continue to hold about 5 seconds to check if the mirrors will fold..

Thanks for responding. I usually do press the lock button this way, but nothing happens now.

Is there another way to get them to fold in?

You should be able to turn the small knob on the drivers side door pocket to a position which will fold the mirrors before you get out of the car.

Might just need the end stops learning for everything, don't  suppose it's had the battery out recently?

Press down on each window and hold it for a few seconds when it's reached the end of it's travel, do the same for up, then see if it'll fold with a long press on the remote :)

Check all the windows are fully up and try again.

Opened and closed all the windows, keeping buttons depressed a bit longer on completion. Discovered the little knob which folds mirrors in. Also discovered it looks like I can demist mirrors in the winter (didn't know about that one).

End result - mirrors now fold in when I lock the car.

Your help in solving this problem very much appreciated.

Thank you all.

Glad you got sorted. Most of the advanced functionality relating to mirrors requires the mirror selector switch to be left in the 'L' position, so that's always worth checking if it's not behaving as expected.

Many thanks, will bear that in mind.

I thought only reverse dip needed the mirror selector to be in the passenger side slot (RHD/UK set to L, LHD set to R)...?

Mirror folding on key doesn't care and mirror demisting needs the selector moved to the appropriate icon :)

You may be right, but I tend to find things easiest if my default is the most useful configuration. It reduces headscratching in those confused moments when things are acting the maggot.

Mine does this every now and then, usually find one of the windows is not fully closed for some reason. The old opening and closing manually trick sorts it out each time

I wondered why my mirrors refused to fold every now and again.  Now I know it is linked to the windows not being fully closed, that helps.

is it possible to code the mirrors to fold when driving by using the switch? mine wont fold if im moving which is a pain on tight country lanes.

I believe they already do but only at very low speed, not sure it's possible to raise the threshold 😕
