When to install a remap ?????

Featured Replies

I will soon be taking delivery of a nice shiney new Fabia VRS and am already looking down the remap route (Jabba or AMD oneclick)

Question is when is the best time to do this - when she is fresh out of the box with a tight new engine

...OR....

Is it better to put a few thousand on the clock to bed the car in before going down the engine upgrade route.

Many of you guys have already pondered this question I am sure - what were your answers and results ??????????

Cheers guys ;)

3 years or 60k miles, which arrives sooner.

You did want to keep your warranty, right? ;)

Chris

Mike at Jabba told me it would be better to wait for 5k miles to make sure all of the components properly bedded in. I have it mapped it with 5,009 miles on the clock ;)

I waited until 10,000 miles.

The PD engines don't really start to loosen up until this time, and I didn't want to remap an over tight engine.

For a custom map then it is better to wait for the engine to be nicely run in, that way the mapper can extract the maximum power however, as I replied in your AMD post, If AMD was your route then 2k should be more than enough.
