Does anyone have a 1.5TSI Sportline ?

Featured Replies

Just looking at some car options, does anyone have a 1.5TSI Sportline estate ?  any photos to share ?

Read a few issues about the said 1.5tsi, but as its a lease car it does not worry me that much.

thanks

Has anyone even seen one ? no dealers local to me have any in or even seen one either......

thanks

With respect, if you want a sporty looking estate, which ain't quite sporty, you buy a VRD

I think the car your looking for has a very small market appeal

I’ve never seen one on the road, AutoTrader, local dealer or on this site.

It may have small market appeal for some, but then you are playing the BIK game and need to order a car in the next week but due to manufacture factory switch overs for the new models not all prices have been realised you become into a bit of a stuck position.

The BIK on a VRS due to the co2 costs £££... so rather than get a SE or SEL octy, the sportline looks that bit more nicer, hence the question... agree ?

Theres only 1x used one in the uk.  photo of it below.

Google Marshalls Skoda Leicester they have a Black Magic Sportline estate with delivery mileage and Pano Roof registered July 2019 so on a 19 plate with the 1.5TSI and DSG not many of these about retails at around £35,000 but up for £28,000.

Problem with that is that there was a 19 plate 245 with pan roof, DSG, ACC, Columbus, VC, heated seats and screen, all round sensors and rear camera with 6k miles on the clock at a dealer for £29,995 until yesterday and many similar deals readily available so if you wanted a well specc’d car you would be hard pressed not to spend the extra (or actually less in some cases) on the vRS. SportLine looks very good IMO but only worth it if you aren’t ticking option boxes and can get a strong discount as the SE-L is a bit more comfy and the SE-Tech better equipped in some respects (though no LED lights).

Same dealer has a nice Superb SEL in White for £23,000 which is much better value than the overpriced Sportline IMHO.:thumbup:Or an even cheaper Octavia L & K with sunroof, canton etc for only £22,000 which is great value as it was over £30,000 new on a 19 plate still.;)

The OP is looking for a car that will not cost him too much in BIK company car tax. This tax is based on the P11D value of the car, i.e. list price including optional extras, VAT and delivery charges, minus the first year registration fee and annual VED car tax when new, so a car that had a high list price when it was new is not what he will be looking for, especially if it comes with costly optional extras. The P11D value is multiplied by a percentage depending on CO2 emissions, and there is a 4% surcharge for diesels that do not meet RDE2 targets. This is why he is looking at the model with the 1.5 petrol engine.

He will be more interested in the BIK value than the purchase price, provided the purchase price is acceptable to his company.

Skoda dealer told me yesterday that all Skoda models are no longer available to order from the factory with the infamous 1.5TSi engine so the only chance the OP has is to buy an existing already built model.

Unfortunately for him he will pay BIK tax based on the original list price new rather than what the car costs now.

At least with an already built car he will be able to check that the car doesn't have the problem that has made the 1.5TSI infamous.

If Skoda are dropping this engine because they don't have a fix for it, that is a bit worrying.

This is exactly the reason I am about to off-load our manual 1.5TSi Karoq in 8 days time and whoever buys it will find out why we are buying another Octavia with a different engine.

An interesting thread indeed...... i am in the dark on this one..... what (in short) is the issue here ?

Manual cars suffer from a jerkiness when cold starting (usually in 1st gear) which sees the rev counter going up and down which does not appear to have any correlation to where the gas pedal is .DSG cars seem to hesitate or even stall when exiting T junctions or pulling into traffic on roundabouts.:whew:

The 1.5 TSI has been suffering with an issue regarding exaggerated pull away assist and kangerooing at low rpm. VAG have been very slow in issuing a fix for it and many cars are still affected.

The 1.5tsi act has some problems, 1st is the kangaroo pull away, 2nd is the rear torture beam suspension setup, man that alone is worth a grand a year in taxes.

Wow, so one to stay away from then, this had passed me by...... thanks for the update.

This is interesting to say the least, i had heard there are a few issues but not to that scale.

If Skoda are really dropping this engine then it's odd still available on configurator for an octy estate, didn't check sportline...

Screenshot_20190827-133950.png

The 1.0 and 1.5 engines disappeared from the Italian configurator for a few months. Now they have been re-introduced. Maybe they addressed the issues?

Various models were not showing 1.0 or 1.5 TSI manuals or DSG's and are again showing them.

While there are owners / drivers of 1.5 TSI EVO Manuals & DSG's that have not yet had software updates or 2nd or 3rd updates that work there are now new models like the Scala in dealers with 1.5 TSI DSG's.

Surely VW Group / Skoda must have resolved the issues, and if not and brought them forward to MY20 cars they will be deep in the poo.
