Producing and selling an EV that people might actually afford was a good move while Skoda still can not open the order books on a electric Citigo while production of the ICE ones has stopped.

Aye but it's no looker and according to the reviews not exactly startling to drive. Though it is very cheap so that in itself is commendable from MG.

You do not see the outside of a car when you are driving unless you look in shop windows or see another one.

When was beauty to do with a commuter?

Startling to drive and owing a Skoda is an odd thing as well.

Some have show and a bit of go, at the cost of any economy usually.

George even you might go quiet for a few seconds in a 330bhp Octavia unless you've sampled a passenger ride in one, startling is one word to describe the acceleration. Wife uses another 2 quite often SLOW DOWN.:sweat:

Just for the record I'm not anti rover/MG. The first car I ever owned was a rover 220 sdi abit like the one picture above, I loved it to bits (though it did rust and when I buried it in a dry-stone dyke backwards at 80mph it burst apart at the seams. With the fuel pump turned though she made somme black reek and probably made an earth spinning 130bhp.

Aye my misses used to say they same in my old octy vrs too.

I've got a 19 plate Fabia as a loan car while they fix the vRS under warranty.

It's terrible.

Yeah, that's about it.

Alex

When mine was in for a service I got a citygo…… was I glad to get the vRS back😉

@shyVRS245

Your car is tuned, no point keeping on as though it is an example of a Skoda 245 as they leave the factory,

as to who can p1ss the highest my 330ps 8 speed AWD top trumps your 330+ FWD manual.

@Gmac983

Sorry but fail to see what a Rover / MG/ Honda of old has to do with any MG badged cars now.

Majority of the buying public would recon on anything with more than 200bhp as fairly rapid... Depends on your perspectve though, had a run in a Caterham superlight, now it was loopy... Bosses bentley bentayga weights 2.5tons but can crack 60 in 4 seconds so horses for courses.

So why did SAIC motors bother to buy the MG name other than for brand association (God knows why). They could have come in to the UK market under any other name. But primarily because MG is well known/infamous in the UK (past glories and all that).

200bhp or even 150bhp can feel rapid in a lighter car, as for in a big heavy car it will still do double the speed limit but as for entertaining so they are,

as you watch them off in the distance trying to get around bends.

If your BMW is standard then limited to only 155mph not that you would ever exceed the NSL otherwise you would get a speeding ticket.:notme:

No not standard.

Limited to 60 mph NSL and 70 MPH on some roads.

No i never exceed the speed limit, just when needs must and someone thinks they should be in the space i am in and think entering from the rear like a King is the way to do it.

That or i wash their windscreen.

Superlight R500 is 230bhp (230bhp was from memory but apparently 263bhp is the correct figure to keep Roottootemoot happy) and amongst the fastest 0-60's in the world, sub 3 seconds.

Also what speed limits have you got where you live if double the limit is 187mph (claimed for the benty)?

@Gmac983

Nice, but you do not have one do you. Neither the Superlight or the Bentley?

I live in the same parallel universe you do just further down the A9.

Jumping dangerously back on track, we have a VRS and a monte carlo fabia outside. The fabia has been problem free for 3 years, drives well, is comfy and is nice to look at. Leagues ahead of the Ibiza that was traded in for it. Trying to fons something as good for the price is proving difficult. Made all the more difficult by the dealer going bust!

Dont understand the point of all the top trumps stuff to be fair though

What's ownership got to do with anything here, what because whatever it is you own makes you superior to everyone else...

We are discussing people's differing perceptions of how fast cars can feel. Yourself and shyvrs where having a p!ssing competition regarding how fast or indeed slow your 300 odd bhp cars are. Well no i do not own either of the cars I mentioned but have experienced them both (All be it not the bentys' top speed but given how quickly it hit 150mph I don't doubt its claims) and the r500 is a sprint/hill climb car a friend of mine owns.

The top trumps stuff only came about due to the p!ssing competion and superiority complex that some people have on here.

But yes by all means get back on track. Some people just have to have the last word.

@Gmac983

What you own means nothing, but when talking about 200bhp in family cars bringing up a Superlight or a Bentley seems neither here nor there,

the same with the 330+ BHP Octavia we hear about often enough that Skoda never bothered to produce.

They do a 280 Superb and thats about as much as it goes with Skoda an a performance car in the showrooms, other than a Kodiaq vRS which gets a 240ps Diesel.

Had 1 or 2 too many sherbets on you Friday night?

No just here for the banter.

Superlight SV 500R is 263bhp if you are interested.

So you can work Google too.

@Gmac983

Funnily you joined a car enthusists forum.  As to being a cheeky monkey, chill man.

Lighten up maybe, you know for speed just add lightness.

Easy to criticise Skoda when you don't actually own one, which is why I don't go on Ford or Vauxhall forums. If someone wants to know how to make their Octavia go faster then I've got the T shirt covered.:tongueout:
