18" Alaris wheels

Featured Replies

About to pick up a 2019 Octy estate with the above wheels, not my choice, car is a demonstrator 4k miles. Current car is a 2007 octy estate with 16" wheels. Will I notice a difference in noise or a harsher ride. I accept that this is dependant on tyres and age of car etc. I suppose I am asking if I prefer comfort and lower road noise, as opposed to handling, will swapping to 17" or 16" be worthwhile?

Anyone interested in swapping similar age/mileage 17" OEM wheels with me?

Hi @GreenMachine1.6

I've moved your post to the octy section. In swap it was a little lost, mostly as I was preparing to remove that area of the site.

I'm guessing you'll of collected it by now. I'd not of thought too much of a difference between 16/17... 16 to 19 yes. Then again you also have to account for the 12yr old suspension/chassis compared to the 1yr old... I hope you've found it better ;)

Thanks for moving it. I have obtained some 16" wheels in very good condition, not yet swapped them. Will now try to sell the 18", unfortunately as I feared I had a minor scuff in the first week and worry the rural Suffolk roads will collect their usual winter craters!

I run 18" in summer and 17" in the winter, don't notice much of a difference in ride.

Depends which model you have, 16"s won't fit over the vRS's front brakes

"Fortunately" it is an SE L with a lot of toys🙂. Must remember that when I come to sell the Alaris, thanks.

I have a vrs with 18s.  The ride is fine, certainly wouldn't go smaller myself.

Yes but you have multilink rear suspension, I would guess the SEL doesn't, unless it is 4x4. Makes a difference
