Reverse sensor noise

Featured Replies

Hi all

Just wondered whether this is normal. When I reverse and get close to a fixed object, the sensors of course pick up that object with the usual beeping noise, no problem there. Once I stop however and put the car into neutral, the sensor noise keeps going for 7 seconds, as well as the reverse screen stays on as well, bloomin annoying. Surely when you select neutral the sensor should turn straight off. Why I ask is, the car is going into the garage soon for it's first service and I will mention it to them. If it is not normal, I will push even harder for them to fix it.

Quite normal sometimes when I pull forward the reverse camera is still showing what is behind me for a few seconds until it realises I am not still going backwards. Nothing to worry about.

Its normal. Useful if you may be rolling slowly/stationary in neutral and someone steps behind you/ or moves a vehicle. That has happened to me. The sensor stops working if the engine is stopped or after a second or two when you move forward again.

Thanks guys fora very swift response to my question. I will have to live with it then.

I have been manoeuvring in my GP car park in the last half hour. I had just slotted into first after reversing. Beeeep, yup an old guy was reversing at me. Useful yet again.

My screen stays on even when moving off and stays on, muting the radio until I tap the X to dismiss it.

I once had to reverse to avoid a Tractor and the beeping, bleeping, from reverse sensors and front sensors

was horrendous as it crept by.

The sensors are strange eh. On a previous VRS Octavia I had sensors retro fitted. As soon as you took it out of reverse, they stopped, as they should. Modern cars, you would have thought modern tech in the car would work as it should.

I just want to be able to take the car out of reverse once I get close to something with the constant beep going and it stops straight away.

All this you are describing is coded in. When going forward after reverse there is a preset speed at which you have to travel to turn the sensors off. It's to allow for multiple manoeuvres and can be changed with vcds/obd11. Original value is something like 8mph. I reduced mine to 5 I think which is much better and interferes less with everyday driving.

I reverse down my sloping drive and the sensors sound off all the way down,

bushes shrubs the road the nearby fences its like driving a bloody hurdy gurdy

You can just hit the button by the gear stick and turn it off.
